Prime Counsel is a specialised Legal Process Outsourcing (LPO) and advisory firm supporting Chennai-based SMEs with legal and HR back-office solutions. Prime HR provides services including payroll, HR policies, onboarding and exits, POSH and labour law compliance, and candidate sourcing.

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced HR professional with 5+ years of hands-on HR Generalist experience to head our HR department and manage HR operations and advisory support for our clients.

The role involves managing assigned client accounts, handling end-to-end HR activities, supporting business owners with complex HR matters, guiding HR Generalists and acting as the escalation point for difficult and sensitive HR situations.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage the complete HR scope for assigned clients, including payroll, HR policies, onboarding, exits and statutory compliance.
- Handle complex employee relations matters, including contentious terminations, forced exits, grievances and disciplinary matters.
- Handle POSH complaints through the committee's findings.
- Handle Full & Final Settlement disputes and labour department notices.
- Advise business owners on HR matters and ensure that proposed actions are compliant with applicable requirements.
- Review HR Generalists' work relating to exits, grievances and disciplinary matters before it reaches the client.
- Coach and guide HR Generalists at their respective client locations.
- Maintain and update HR policies, templates and checklists, including updates relating to labour codes.




- Act as the escalation point for difficult HR situations across client accounts.
- Work closely with business owners and employees to address and resolve HR-related concerns.
- Travel across Chennai to client offices as required.

Who We're Looking For

- 5+ years of hands-on HR Generalist experience.
- Must have personally handled difficult and sensitive HR situations.
- Experience handling a contentious termination or forced exit.
- Experience handling disciplinary proceedings or domestic inquiries from show-cause notice through outcome.
- Experience handling a POSH complaint through the committee's findings.
- Experience handling a Full & Final Settlement dispute or labour department notice.
- Strong knowledge of PF, ESI, Professional Tax and payroll compliance.
- Good understanding of labour code changes and HR compliance requirements.
- Strong employee relations, grievance handling and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to confidently communicate with business owners and employees.
- Comfortable travelling across Chennai to client offices.
- Comfortable communicating in both Tamil and English.

Preferred Background Candidates with experience in manufacturing, logistics, retail, hospitality, staffing agencies, or HR consultancies serving SMEs would be preferred.
