Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Data Center Design Manager to support the design and delivery of mission-critical data center projects in India on a 12-month contract basis. This role will be responsible for coordinating multidisciplinary design activities across electrical, mechanical, civil, structural, and architectural disciplines, ensuring designs are delivered to the highest standards of quality, reliability, safety, and operational performance.

The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to manage design development, resolve technical challenges, and ensure alignment with project objectives, client requirements, industry standards, and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary data center design activities throughout the project lifecycle, from concept design through construction support and handover.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, consultants, and engineering teams to integrate design solutions into overall project delivery plans.
- Provide technical oversight and design guidance across mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), civil, structural, and architectural disciplines.
- Review and validate design documentation, including drawings, specifications, calculations, reports, and vendor submittals.




- Ensure all designs comply with applicable local codes, industry standards, regulatory requirements, and client technical specifications.
- Identify design risks, technical issues, and project constraints, developing practical solutions to minimize impact on project schedules and budgets.
- Coordinate with equipment vendors and suppliers to evaluate and select design solutions that meet project objectives for performance, reliability, scalability, and cost.
- Support design reviews, value engineering initiatives, constructability assessments, and commissioning readiness activities.
- Implement and maintain quality assurance and quality control processes to ensure the accuracy and consistency of design deliverables.
- Facilitate communication and alignment among internal teams, external consultants, contractors, and client representatives.
- Track design progress, manage deliverable schedules, and support resolution of technical queries during construction and commissioning phases.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation and ensure effective version control of all design deliverables.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in data center design, engineering, or project delivery.
- Proven experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering and design teams on complex infrastructure projects.




- Solid understanding of data center design principles, including power, cooling, redundancy, resiliency, and operational requirements.
- Knowledge of local building codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements applicable to data center projects in India.
- Experience throughout the project lifecycle, including design, procurement, construction support, commissioning, and handover.
- Ability to review technical drawings and specifications across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams and cultures.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal.

Nice to have

- Experience working with hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise data center projects.
- Familiarity with Tier certification requirements and mission-critical facility standards.
- Experience managing external design consultants and engineering service providers.
- Knowledge of BIM/Revit and common engineering design tools.
- Experience supporting commissioning and operational readiness activities.
