We are looking for an accomplished Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead the technology charter of a leading fintech organisation.

The CTO will own the organisation's technology strategy, product engineering, architecture, platforms, infrastructure, cybersecurity, data and technology operations, while partnering closely with the CEO and business leadership to build technology capabilities that drive growth, scalability and competitive advantage.

This is a strategic leadership role requiring a combination of deep technology expertise, fintech domain understanding, commercial orientation and the ability to build and lead large, high-performing technology organisations.

The ideal candidate would have experience building and scaling mission-critical, high-volume financial technology platforms, with strong exposure to payments, digital financial services, banking or other regulated financial ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities

- Technology Strategy & Leadership
- Define and execute the long-term technology vision and roadmap aligned with the company's business strategy.
- Act as a strategic technology advisor to the CEO and leadership team.
- Identify opportunities where technology can create new revenue streams, improve customer experience and strengthen competitive differentiation.
- Drive technology transformation and modernization across the organisation.
- Establish the right balance between speed, scalability, reliability, security and technology cost.

2. Product Engineering & Platform
- Lead the complete product engineering charter across web, mobile, backend and platform engineering.
- Build highly scalable, resilient and secure financial technology platforms.
- Drive API-first, microservices and event-driven architecture where appropriate.
- Ensure technology platforms are capable of supporting significant growth in customers, merchants, partners and transaction volumes.
- Establish strong engineering practices across SDLC, Agile, DevOps, CI/CD and automation.

3. Architecture & Technology Modernisation
- Own enterprise and product architecture across application, data, infrastructure and integration layers.
- Drive cloud-native architecture and platform modernization.
- Lead technology decisions around build vs. buy, platform selection and strategic technology partnerships.




- Ensure architecture is designed for high availability, low latency, scalability and resilience.
- Establish architecture governance and technical standards across engineering teams.

4. Payments / Fintech Technology
- Drive technology strategy across the organisation's fintech platforms and financial products.
- Build and scale integrations with banks, payment networks, fintech partners, merchants and other ecosystem participants.
- Oversee API ecosystems, transaction processing, payment orchestration and partner integrations.
- Ensure systems are designed to handle high transaction volumes with strong reliability and fault tolerance.
- Stay abreast of evolving payment, banking and fintech technology ecosystems.

5. Security, Risk & Regulatory Compliance
- Own technology security and resilience in partnership with the CISO / Risk / Compliance functions.
- Establish robust cybersecurity, data protection, access control, encryption, monitoring and audit frameworks.
- Ensure technology architecture and operations meet applicable regulatory and industry requirements.
- Drive technology risk management, vulnerability management, incident response and disaster recovery.
- Ensure business continuity and resilience of mission-critical platforms.

6. Data, AI & Analytics
- Define and execute the technology strategy for data platforms, analytics and AI.
- Build a strong data foundation enabling real-time business intelligence and decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to leverage AI/ML across customer experience, fraud, risk, operations, automation and product innovation.
- Ensure strong data governance, quality, security and accessibility.

7. Reliability & Technology Operations
- Own platform availability, performance, scalability and production reliability.
- Establish strong SRE, observability, monitoring and incident-management practices.
- Drive effective disaster recovery, business continuity and infrastructure resilience.

- Partner closely with Product, Business, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Finance and Customer Experience teams.
- Translate business priorities into scalable technology solutions.
- Represent technology at the executive leadership and board level.
- Manage strategic technology vendors, partners and service providers.
- Own technology budgets and ensure optimal technology investment and ROI.

Ideal Candidate Profile
- 18–25 years of overall technology experience, with significant experience in senior technology leadership roles.
- Proven experience as a CTO / CTO-1 / Chief Technology Officer / SVP Technology / Head of Technology in a high-scale fintech, payments, banking or financial services organisation.
- Strong track record of building and scaling technology platforms rather than purely managing IT operations.
- Experience handling high-volume, high-availability and mission-critical systems.
- Strong understanding of payments, fintech platforms, APIs, distributed systems and financial technology ecosystems.
- Deep understanding of modern architecture including microservices, cloud, APIs, event-driven architecture, databases, DevOps and SRE.
- Solid exposure to cybersecurity, data protection, technology risk and regulatory environments.
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead large engineering organisations.
- Strong business orientation with the ability to connect technology decisions to revenue, customer experience, operational efficiency and business growth.
- Experience working closely with founders, CEOs, boards and senior business leadership.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and strategic decision-making capabilities.
