Job Role

We are looking for a CAD/CAM & Manufacturing Engineer with strong knowledge of Autodesk Fusion 360, mechanical drawing and manufacturing processes.

The primary responsibility will be to prepare 2D manufacturing drawings, 3D models, tooling/fixture drawings and support new product development.

The engineer will also be responsible for developing CNC machining processes for selected turned components, including CAM programming, machine setup, proving out the first component and handing over the approved process to production.

This is a hands-on engineering role requiring the candidate to work closely with the Production, Quality and Tool Room teams.

Key Responsibilities1. CAD & Engineering Drawings – Major Responsibility

- Prepare detailed 2D manufacturing drawings from customer drawings, samples and existing components.
- Create accurate 3D models using Autodesk Fusion 360.
- Prepare manufacturing drawings with appropriate:
- Dimensions
- Tolerances
- GD&T;
- Surface finish requirements
- Material specifications
- Heat treatment requirements
- Secondary operation requirements
- Develop drawings for new products and engineering changes.
- Modify existing drawings based on customer and production requirements.
- Prepare tooling, fixture and machining drawings.
- Maintain drawing revisions and ensure the latest revision is available to production.
- Convert customer drawings into manufacturing-ready drawings.
- Work with Production and Quality to resolve drawing-related issues.

1. New Product & Manufacturing Development

- Develop 3D models and manufacturing drawings for new components.
- Understand the manufacturing process and design components accordingly.
- Assist in developing tooling, fixtures and machining methods.
- Study components and suggest improvements for manufacturability.
- Support production trials and new product development.
- Work closely with the Tool Room,

Production and Quality departments during development.
- Document and standardize successful manufacturing processes.

1. CNC Turning & CAM – Hands-On Responsibility

For components requiring CNC turning, the engineer should be capable of taking the component from drawing to production.

Responsibilities include

- Study the component drawing and decide the appropriate machining sequence.
- Develop the CNC turning process and machining strategy.
- Select suitable cutting tools, inserts and holders.
- Decide appropriate cutting speeds, feed rates and depth of cut.
- Create CNC turning toolpaths using Autodesk Fusion 360.
- Perform toolpath simulation and check for collisions and machining issues.
- Generate CNC programs using the appropriate post-processor.
- Understand and edit basic G-code and M-code when required.
- Plan suitable work-holding/chucking arrangements.
- Set up the CNC turning machine.
- Set tool offsets, work offsets and component zero.
- Load and verify the CNC program.
- Prove out the first component on the machine.
- Measure and inspect the first-off component.
- Make necessary corrections to the program, tool offsets and machining parameters.
- Optimize the machining process for quality, cycle time and tool life.
- Resolve machining problems such as dimensional variation, chatter, burrs, poor surface finish and tool wear.
- Once the component is approved, prepare the setup/process information and hand over the job to the production team for regular manufacturing.

Important The candidate should not only be able to create a CNC program. For a new CNC-turned component, the candidate should be capable of taking responsibility for:

Drawing → Process Planning → Fusion 360 CAM → Simulation → CNC Program → Machine Setup → First-Part Prove-Out → Measurement & Correction → Approved First Part → Production Handover

CNC turning will be required for selected components and will not be the only responsibility of the position.

1. Production Support

- Support production during machining and other manufacturing operations.
