Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Manager – Sourcing to manage strategic sourcing, vendor development, supplier negotiations and procurement activities for mechanical and engineering components. The role will be responsible for identifying reliable suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing, maintaining quality and delivery standards, and supporting uninterrupted production through effective material sourcing.

Key Responsibilities1. Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Development

- Identify, evaluate and develop new suppliers for sheet metal, fabricated components, machined components, plastics, injection-moulded parts, press components, bought-out items and other mechanical materials.
- Conduct supplier identification, qualification and evaluation based on Quality, Cost and Delivery (QCD).
- Develop alternate and backup suppliers to reduce supply-chain risks.
- Conduct market research to identify competitive sources and new suppliers.
- Maintain and regularly update the approved supplier/vendor database.

1. Purchase & Commercial Negotiation

- Handle sourcing and procurement activities from RFQ to Purchase Order (PO).
- Float enquiries/RFQs, analyse quotations and conduct commercial comparisons.
- Negotiate price, payment terms, delivery schedules, MOQ, tooling costs, freight and other commercial terms.
- Achieve cost reduction through price negotiation, alternate sourcing, value engineering and supplier development.
- Prepare and release purchase orders in accordance with company procedures.

1. Supplier Management

- Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers and develop long-term strategic partnerships.
- Monitor supplier performance on quality, delivery, cost and responsiveness.




- Conduct supplier performance reviews and initiate corrective actions wherever required.
- Coordinate with suppliers to resolve delivery delays, quality issues and commercial concerns.
- Support supplier audits and development activities along with Quality and Engineering teams.

1. Material Planning & Production Coordination

- Coordinate closely with Production, Planning, Stores, Quality, Engineering and Finance teams to understand material requirements.
- Monitor material availability and ensure timely procurement to avoid production interruptions.
- Track pending purchase orders, delivery schedules and critical materials.
- Support inventory optimisation and reduction of excess/obsolete inventory.

1. Cost & Market Analysis

- Analyse market prices, raw-material trends and supplier quotations.
- Prepare cost comparisons and negotiation reports.
- Identify opportunities for cost saving and procurement efficiency.
- Benchmark supplier pricing and identify competitive sourcing opportunities.

1. ERP & MIS

- Ensure accurate purchase and supplier-related data in the ERP/procurement system.
- Maintain RFQ, quotation, PO, supplier and sourcing records.
- Prepare periodic MIS reports, sourcing reports, cost-saving reports and supplier performance reports.
- Track procurement KPIs and provide management updates.

Educational Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- Qualification in Supply Chain Management / Procurement will be an added advantage.

Experience
- 8-11 years of relevant experience in Purchase, Procurement, Strategic Sourcing or Vendor Development.
- Experience in engineering, automation, industrial equipment, automotive, textile machinery or general manufacturing is preferred.
- Candidates with strong experience in sourcing mechanical components will be preferred.
