Role & responsibilities
- 8-12 years of experience in manufacturing procurement/supply chain, preferably in HVAC, engineering, industrial equipment, electrical, automotive, white goods or similar complex manufacturing environments.
- Strong SAP MM and procurement process knowledge, including PR-to-PO, Info Records, open PO management, material availability and Procure-to-Pay processes.
- Strong understanding of material planning and production requirements, with the ability to coordinate effectively with PPC, Production, Stores, Engineering, Sourcing and Sales wherever required.
- Solid supplier management, negotiation and expediting capability, including handling a large supplier base, new/challenging parts, supplier commitments, price approvals and supply-risk situations.
- Robust analytical capability with the ability to use SAP/Excel data to create visibility of material availability, shortages, open PR/POs, supplier performance and production risks. Power BI/digitization experience would be an advantage.
- Ability to develop and monitor supplier performance metrics, identify gaps through data and drive corrective actions with suppliers.
- Ability to work closely with Sourcing on new supplier development, commercial negotiations, cost-reduction initiatives, supplier agreements and supply-risk mitigation.
- Experience in process improvement and implementation of best practices, rather than only operating existing processes. The candidate should be able to identify process gaps and help establish more robust procurement practices at Wada.
- Exposure to current product introduction, engineering changes/ECNs, new parts and production ramp-up would be preferred, given the non-standard nature of chiller manufacturing.
- A proven track record of measurable results such as cost reduction, inventory reduction, lead-time improvement, supplier performance improvement, shortage reduction, productivity improvement or successful process implementation.
- Strong problem-solving, ownership and execution mindset, with the ability to work effectively in a challenging plant environment and respond quickly to production-critical issues.
- Strong communication and articulation skills, with the ability to influence suppliers and internal stakeholders and drive actions to closure.
- Team-player mindset and team-oriented leadership, with the ability to support and develop the procurement team and work closely with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Most importantly, the candidate should be comfortable with the Wada plant location and the hands-on nature of the role, and demonstrate willingness to work at the location on a long-term basis.
