Catalogue Manager – Building Materials

Department: Ecommerce Product Cataloguing

Reports to: Category Manager

Key Responsibilities

Catalogue Creation & Maintenance

- Create, upload, and maintain product listings (SKUs) with accurate titles, descriptions, specifications, images, and pricing
- Ensure catalogue data is standardized across categories (units of measure, pack sizes, brand names, technical specs like grade, thickness, load rating, etc.)
- Manage bulk uploads/updates via Excel/CSV templates and catalogue management tools/PIM systems

Data Quality & Taxonomy

- Define and maintain category structure, attributes, and filters (e.g., material type, size, brand, finish, application) to improve searchability
- Conduct regular audits to fix duplicate, incomplete, or mismatched listings
- Standardize technical specifications in line with industry standards (IS codes, ASTM, etc. where applicable)

Vendor & Cross-functional Coordination

- Work with vendors/suppliers to collect accurate product data, images, and certifications
- Coordinate with the sourcing/procurement team on recent product onboarding timelines
- Liaise with marketing for SEO-friendly titles/descriptions and with tech/IT for catalogue tool issues

Pricing & Inventory Alignment





- Ensure pricing, MRP, discounts, and stock availability are correctly reflected and updated in real time
- Coordinate with warehouse/inventory teams to flag stock discrepancies

Performance & Optimization

- Monitor catalogue health metrics (content completeness, image quality, listing errors, search visibility)
- Use customer search/behaviour data to identify content gaps and improve product discoverability

Compliance

- Ensure product listings comply with legal/statutory requirements (e.g., BIS certification, safety labelling, warranty info) relevant to building materials

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil/Mechanical preferred), Business, or related field
- 2–5 years of experience in catalogue/content management, preferably in e-commerce or building materials/construction industry
- Strong proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets.
- Working knowledge of building material specifications and industry terminology is a strong plus
- Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy
- Basic understanding of SEO principles for e-commerce listings
- Strong cross-functional coordination and vendor management skills
