An HVAC Site Engineer oversees the in office installation, testing, and commissioning of heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems. They coordinate contractors, ensure drawings and specifications are followed, manage quality and safety, and resolve technical issues during construction.

Typical responsibilities:

- Review HVAC drawings, BOQs, specifications, and project schedules.
- Plan daily site activities, manpower, materials, tools, and equipment.
- Supervise installation of ducting, piping, chillers, AHUs, FCUs, VRF/VRV systems, ventilation fans, insulation, controls, and related works.
- Coordinate with civil, electrical, plumbing, fire-fighting, and architectural teams to prevent clashes and delays.
- Inspect completed work for quality, alignment, pressure testing, insulation, and compliance with approved drawings and standards.
- Prepare material requests, inspection requests, work permits, daily progress reports, and site records.




- Monitor subcontractors and ensure work meets project deadlines.
- Enforce site safety procedures and address unsafe conditions.
- Troubleshoot installation issues and propose practical solutions for approval.
- Support testing, balancing, commissioning, handover, and preparation of as-built drawings.

Common requirements:

- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or HVAC-related field.
- Experience with HVAC installation and site coordination.
- Ability to read shop drawings and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with standards such as ASHRAE, SMACNA, and local building codes.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD; familiarity with Revit and MS Project is often preferred.
- Strong coordination, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
