About the Team and the Role:The People Operations & Strategy (POPS) team at Ather is responsible for building a supportive, compliant, and high-performance workplace fabric across our manufacturing and corporate operations. This role is for a Welfare Officer based at our Hosur Factory who will act as the key liaison between management and labor, ensuring statutory compliance, positive employee relations, and associate well-being on the shop floor.

Responsibilities:

- Establish and maintain harmonious consultations between factory management and shop-floor workers to build constructive workplace relations.

- Act as the primary liaison and grievance officer, bringing worker concerns to management's attention and securing expeditious redressal.

- Help shape and interpret labor and welfare policies, translating them clearly to workers in a language they understand (English and Tamil).

- Advise and monitor factory-wide compliance with statutory obligations concerning working hours, maternity benefits, medical care, and general welfare measures under the Factories Act, 1948.

- Conduct statutory works, canteen, and grievance committee meetings, tracking and ensuring the closure of raised points.

- Encourage and monitor the upkeep of shop-floor amenities, including canteens, rest shelters, crèches, drinking water, and sickness schemes.

- Conduct training and awareness programs for workers on shop-floor conduct, safety, and operational standards.

- Work in rotational shifts to support factory operations and shop-floor associates across different schedules.

- Advise management on the welfare aspects of new joiner orientation, apprentice training, promotions, transfers, and maintain detailed records of all welfare management activities.

Experience and Qualifications:

- A degree in Labour Management / MBA in HR / Industrial Relations / Master of Social Work (MSW).





- 3 to 6 years of experience in an employee relations or labor welfare role within a manufacturing environment.

Must have Competencies:

- Expert knowledge of labor laws, statutory compliance, and industrial relations regulations, including the Factories Act 1948 and state factories rules.

- Hands-on experience in grievance handling, workplace mediation, and shop-floor conflict resolution.

- Proficiency in conducting and managing statutory committees (e.g., Canteen, Works Committees) and tracking action items to closure.

- Professional bilingual communication skills in English and Tamil to liaise effectively between management and labor.

Valuable to have Competencies:

- Skill in conducting employee counseling, active listening, and mental well-being monitoring.

- Practical knowledge of factory operations, shop-floor safety protocols, and onboarding/training procedures for associates.

- Basic data management skills using MS Excel or Google Sheets to maintain welfare records and files.
