Job Title: Construction Estimator

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Construction Estimator to accurately forecast the costs of our upcoming residential building projects. In this role, you will analyse blueprints, perform material take-offs, and secure competitive vendor pricing for custom homes, multi-family units, and major residential renovations. Your main goal is to deliver precise, profitable estimates that align with client budgets and our company’s financial targets.

Core Responsibilities

- Analyse Residential Plans: Review architectural blueprints, structural drawings, and client specification sheets for single-family homes or multi-family complexes.
- Perform Quantity Take-offs: Use estimating software to calculate exact material quantities for framing, roofing, drywall, flooring, and finishes.
- Manage Trade Partners: Solicit and evaluate bids from residential subcontractors (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical, framing crews).
- Maintain Cost Databases: Keep an updated pricing library for residential materials, regional labour rates,



and building permits.
- Collaborate on Selection: Work closely with residential designers and clients to price out upgrades, custom finishes, or value-engineering alternatives.
- Prepare Budgets & Contracts: Compile complete budgets, scopes of work, and final construction proposals for client presentation.

Required Qualifications & Skills

- Education: Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Building Technology, or a related field (or equivalent field experience).
- Experience: 2–5+ years of experience specifically estimating residential construction or custom home projects.

- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with residential estimating software (e.g., Highrise).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Robust knowledge of local residential building codes and residential zoning laws.

- Soft Skills: High attention to detail and sharp negotiation skills with trade vendors.
