Role Description

Digital Balika is looking for a Volunteer Research Assistant to support ongoing research across our digital empowerment initiatives.

This is a remote, unpaid volunteer role suited to individuals who are curious about research and interested in understanding how technology can influence education, careers, entrepreneurship, and women's empowerment.

Our current research areas include topics such as:

- AI as a Digital Mentor: Exploring how AI can support learning, career development, guidance, and decision-making.
- Digital Balika and Women's Empowerment: Understanding how digital skills, technology, community,



and access to information can support women's personal and professional growth.
- Digital Education and Inclusion: Examining barriers and opportunities in digital learning and participation.
- Women and the Digital Economy: Researching skills, entrepreneurship, employment, and emerging opportunities created by technology.
- Emerging Digital Trends: Exploring how new technologies may affect education, work, communities, and everyday life.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct desk research using academic literature, reports, public datasets, surveys, and other credible digital sources.
- Identify, evaluate, compare, and synthesize relevant research and evidence.
- Support qualitative and quantitative research activities.
- Collect, organize, and document research data and sources.
- Analyze trends, patterns, and insights from research findings, surveys, community feedback, and publicly available information.
- Assist in developing research briefs, summaries, reports, presentations, and other knowledge resources.
- Support the development and refinement of research questions and frameworks.
- Maintain clear and organized research documentation and references.
- Collaborate remotely with the Digital Balika team on ongoing research projects.
- Communicate findings in a explicit, concise, and accessible manner.





Qualifications & Skills
- Strong research skills, including the ability to locate, evaluate, and synthesize information from diverse sources.
- Good analytical and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to work with both qualitative and quantitative information.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and a systematic approach to documentation.
- Ability to independently manage tasks, deadlines, and research assignments in a remote environment.
- Comfort with digital tools such as Google Workspace/Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, collaborative platforms, and basic data-visualization tools.
- Interest in areas such as AI, digital education, women's empowerment, technology, entrepreneurship, social impact, or digital inclusion.
- Academic or professional experience in research, social sciences, education, technology, data science, public policy, development studies, or related fields is an advantage, but not essential.
