Technical Manager – Construction Material Testing Laboratory

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Technical Manager to independently manage all laboratory and field testing activities, technical staff, test reporting, and quality control operations at our construction material testing laboratory.

Key Responsibilities

- Laboratory Management: Oversee daily laboratory operations, sample registration, testing schedules, manpower allocation, and timely completion of assignments.
- Construction Material Testing: Supervise and perform testing of cement, concrete, aggregates, soil, steel, bitumen, paver blocks, AAC blocks, fly ash, and other construction materials.
- Field Testing: Plan and coordinate site testing, including concrete testing, soil field density, SPT, DCPT, plate load tests, rebound hammer, UPV, and other applicable field tests.
- Test Reporting: Prepare, verify, and ensure timely issuance of accurate laboratory and field test reports, including calculations, observations, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Team Management: Supervise engineers and technicians, allocate responsibilities, monitor performance, and provide technical training.
- Equipment Management: Monitor equipment calibration, verification, maintenance, and availability of essential laboratory resources.
- NABL Compliance: Maintain technical records, testing procedures, quality documentation,



and compliance with applicable NABL and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
- Site Scheduling & Client Coordination: Coordinate site visits, sample collection, equipment deployment, client requirements, and pending assignments.
- Daily Monitoring: Track samples received, tests completed, reports pending, site activities, and operational issues; submit regular updates to management.

Mandatory Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, preferably B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering.
- Prior experience in a construction material testing laboratory is mandatory.
- Robust practical knowledge of laboratory and field testing procedures.
- Ability to independently manage testing operations, report preparation, technical staff, and site schedules.
- Good understanding of relevant IS codes, test calculations, and result interpretation.
- Knowledge of NABL requirements and ISO/IEC 17025 is preferred.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Important: Candidates must possess hands-on technical knowledge of construction material testing and be capable of independently managing laboratory and field operations. Freshers and candidates with only theoretical knowledge will not be considered.
