About the Role

Applix is hiring a Supply Chain Engineer – Sourcing (Iron/Steel Castings) in Chennai . This role is responsible for managing the end-to-end sourcing lifecycle for Iron Castings and Steel Castings , from supplier identification and quotation through production readiness and successful source transfer.

The ideal candidate will have solid experience in sourcing, supplier management, purchasing, or manufacturing within Automotive, Construction Equipment, or Agricultural OEMs . You will work closely with global cross-functional teams to execute source move projects while ensuring the best balance of quality, cost, delivery, and supplier performance .

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage end-to-end source move projects for Iron Castings and Steel Castings.
- Own the complete sourcing lifecycle, from RFQ issuance to production implementation.
- Evaluate supplier quotations and perform Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis to identify the most competitive sourcing strategy.
- Coordinate tooling transfers, supplier transitions, and buffer inventory planning to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Collaborate with Category Buyers, Supplier Development Engineers (SDEs), Design Engineers, Manufacturing, Quality, and Global Supply Chain teams .
- Drive supplier onboarding, qualification, and production readiness while ensuring compliance with customer quality and delivery expectations.
- Monitor project timelines, identify risks, and proactively implement mitigation plans.
- Prepare project status reports, sourcing updates, dashboards, and executive presentations for stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to global sourcing policies, procurement standards, and supply chain best practices.
- Support supplier performance improvement initiatives related to quality, cost optimization, and delivery.





Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering , Production Engineering , Industrial Engineering , or a related Engineering discipline.
- 6+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Purchasing
- Strategic Sourcing
- Supply Chain Management
- Supplier Development
- Manufacturing Quality
- Hands-on experience sourcing Iron Castings and Steel Castings .
- Industry experience in Automotive, Construction Machinery, Agricultural Equipment, or Heavy Equipment OEMs is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of:
- Casting manufacturing processes
- Supplier development
- Cost modeling and quotation analysis
- Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
- Supplier negotiations
- Production transition and source move management
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to independently manage multiple sourcing projects in a global environment.

Preferred Skills

- Experience working with global suppliers and international sourcing programs.
- Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, Supplier Quality, and manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in:
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Project
- Experience with Power BI or Tableau is an added advantage.
- PMP or Supply Chain certifications (preferred but not mandatory).
