This is not a conventional procurement role for a construction company.

We are building a new B2B steel supply business and looking for a professional who can build our supplier network from the ground up.

The primary responsibility is to onboard steel manufacturers and leading distributors of established Indian steel brands onto our platform and establish long-term business relationships through necessary commercial agreements and supply contracts.

Hands-on experience working directly with steel manufacturers or major distributors, negotiating commercial terms, and securing competitive rates is mandatory. Candidates with experience limited to purchasing materials for their own company's consumption are not the right fit for this role.

About the Role

We are looking for a commercially driven professional who can establish strategic supplier partnerships, develop a strong steel supply network, and ensure competitive pricing and reliable material availability for our B2B customers.

Key Responsibilities

1. Supplier Onboarding & Partnerships

- Identify and onboard steel manufacturers, steel mills and leading authorised distributors of established Indian steel brands onto our platform.
- Build direct relationships with manufacturer sales teams, regional offices and major distributors.
- Negotiate and execute supplier agreements, commercial contracts and supply arrangements.
- Establish long-term partnerships covering pricing, product availability, payment terms and delivery commitments.
- Verify supplier credentials, authorisations, product quality and supply capabilities.

2. Steel Procurement & Commercial Negotiations

- Develop supply arrangements for TMT bars, beams, angles, channels, MS pipes and other steel products.
- Negotiate competitive rates,

volume-based pricing, credit terms and commercial conditions.
- Obtain and compare manufacturer and distributor quotations to identify the most competitive supply opportunities.
- Build a reliable, multi-brand supplier network to support customer demand across different locations.

3. Steel Market Intelligence

- Monitor daily steel prices, manufacturer price circulars, distributor rates and market movements.
- Understand steel grades, sizes, specifications, brands and quality standards.
- Track competitor pricing, regional demand, product availability and emerging sourcing opportunities.
- Provide market intelligence to support pricing decisions and business growth.

4. Supply Chain Coordination

- Coordinate with suppliers, sales teams, transporters and logistics partners to fulfil customer orders.
- Ensure timely availability and dispatch of the required material, grade and quantity.
- Evaluate freight costs and calculate landed procurement costs.
- Resolve supply issues and maintain supplier performance standards.

5. Business Development & Network Expansion

- Build the company's supplier network and commercial processes from scratch.
- Expand manufacturer and distributor partnerships across Maharashtra and other Indian markets.
- Identify opportunities to introduce additional steel brands and product categories.

- Work closely with the sales team to fulfil customer requirements and improve supply reliability.

Required Experience & Skills
- 1–7 years of experience in steel trading, procurement, distribution, sourcing or supplier relationship management.
- Proven experience dealing directly with steel manufacturers, mills or major authorised distributors.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate commercial terms and secure competitive steel prices.
- Experience in supplier onboarding, vendor development and commercial contract negotiations.
- Good understanding of TMT bars and preferably structural steel products.
- Knowledge of steel market pricing, manufacturer networks, product specifications and logistics.
- Strong negotiation, relationship-building and commercial decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and build a supplier network in a new business environment.

Key Performance Indicators
- Number of qualified manufacturers and authorised distributors onboarded.
- Commercial agreements and supply contracts successfully executed.
- Competitiveness of negotiated supplier rates.
- Product availability and supplier fulfilment reliability.
- Expansion of the supplier network across brands, products and regions.
- Contribution to profitable sales growth through competitive supply arrangements.

Ideal Candidate We are looking for a professional who can open doors to manufacturers and leading distributors, negotiate commercially favourable arrangements, and build a dependable steel supply network for a growing B2B business.

Candidates with established industry relationships and experience developing supplier partnerships beyond routine purchase-order processing will be preferred.
