Shift Engineer Extrusion

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Shift Engineer – Extrusion to manage shift production, manpower, process parameters, quality, machine performance, safety, and continuous improvement. The candidate should have strong hands-on experience in CPVC, UPVC and RPVC pipe extrusion.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Shift Operations

- Manage extrusion operations and achieve daily production, quality and efficiency targets.
- Operate and monitor single/twin-screw extrusion lines for CPVC, UPVC and RPVC pipes.
- Set and monitor key parameters such as temperature, pressure, screw speed, line speed, material feeding, vacuum and cooling.
- Handle machine start-up, shutdown, changeovers, die changes and process stabilization.
- Monitor production output, scrap, rejection, material consumption and machine downtime.
- Prepare shift production and process reports and maintain required ISO/ERP documentation.

Quality & Troubleshooting

- Ensure products meet required quality standards and dimensional specifications.
- Monitor OD, ID, wall thickness, weight, ovality, appearance and surface finish.
- Conduct first-piece and in-process quality checks using measuring instruments.
- Identify and troubleshoot process, material, die and machine-related defects.
- Take corrective actions to reduce rejection, scrap and downtime.

Machine & Maintenance

- Monitor extruders, dies, heaters, temperature controllers, drives, vacuum systems, cooling tanks, haul-offs and cutting equipment.




- Coordinate with Maintenance for breakdowns and equipment-related issues.
- Support die cleaning, tooling adjustments, calibration and preventive maintenance.
- Monitor auxiliary equipment such as mixers, feeders, chillers, compressors, grinders and material conveying systems.

Manpower & Safety

- Supervise operators, technicians and helpers and allocate manpower effectively.
- Train team members on machine operation, process parameters, quality and safety.
- Ensure compliance with SOPs, PPE, safety procedures and 5S standards.
- Coordinate with Quality, Maintenance, Stores and other departments for smooth production.

Process Improvement

- Monitor OEE, machine utilization and production efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, yield and quality.
- Support Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, 5S and continuous improvement initiatives.

Candidate Requirements

- Diploma/Degree in Mechanical / Plastics Engineering or related field. CIPET preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in extrusion operations, with at least 4 years in a supervisory role.
- Hands-on experience in CPVC, UPVC and RPVC pipe extrusion.
- Good knowledge of PVC materials, extrusion dies and twin-screw extruders.
- Knowledge of PLC, HMI and SCADA systems.
- Knowledge of material mixing and palletizing in extrusion operations.
- Strong troubleshooting and process control skills.
- Valuable knowledge of quality, safety and production documentation.
- Strong manpower handling, communication and coordination skills.
- Willingness to work in a shift-based manufacturing environment.
