Senior Professor – School of Law

Opportunity for Leadership Role

Brainware University, Barasat, Kolkata invites applications from distinguished legal academicians for the position of Senior Professor in the Department of Law . The selected candidate will be considered for a senior academic leadership role and will help shape the strategic, administrative, academic and research direction of the department.

? Position Details:-

- Post: Senior Professor (Law)
- Location: Barasat, West Bengal
- Type: Full time, On-campus
- Vacancy: 1

? Key Responsibilities:-

Academic Leadership

- Design, review and update the law curriculum in line with UGC, Bar Council of India (BCI) and NEP 2020 norms
- Oversee teaching, assessment, academic planning and timetable management
- Teach core and specialised law courses at UG/PG/PhD levels

Research & Doctoral Guidance

- Drive a strong research culture and encourage faculty publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Supervise and mentor PhD scholars and guide doctoral research
- Promote funded research projects, seminars, conferences and moot court/legal aid initiatives

Administration & Governance

- Manage departmental administration, faculty recruitment, workload allocation and performance review
- Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies, accreditation (NAAC/NBA) and statutory requirements




- Represent the department on university committees, boards of studies and academic councils

Mentorship & Collaboration

- Mentor junior faculty and support their professional growth
- Build partnerships with courts, law firms, legal institutions, industry and other universities
- Strengthen student engagement, placements, internships and clinical legal education

Qualifications and Requirements:

For Professor:

- At least 10-12 years of experience and accomplishments
- Significant legal research contributions with publications (at least 10 publications in peer-reviewed journals)
- At least 1 PhD awarded scholar
- Demonstrated leadership and academic mentorship
- Proven record in guiding a doctoral scholar
- Excellent communication, decision-making and institution-building skills

Preference will be given to candidates with books/chapters, funded projects, patents or policy-level contributions, and strong academic networks. ? How to Apply
