Roles & responsibilities
- Develop and review drilling and completion fluid programmes and cementing designs.
- Lead preparation and technical evaluation of drilling, completion fluids and cementing service contracts.
- Provide expertise in WBM, OBM/SOBM, RDF and completion fluid systems.
- Plan and review cementing programmes to ensure wellbore and cement sheath integrity.
- Support open-hole and cased-hole sand control and gravel-pack operations.
- Manage completion brines, including chloride- and bromide-based systems.
- Oversee fluid and cement testing, including rheology, stability and filtration control.
- Troubleshoot lost circulation, wellbore stability, differential sticking and cementing issues.
- Manage mud-plant planning and fluid volumes at the shorebase.
- Ensure compliance with HSE requirements, industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Analyse operational data and recommend improvements in drilling and completion performance.
- Provide technical guidance to drilling teams, service providers and other stakeholders.
Desired candidate profile
- Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in drilling/completion fluids and/or cementing operations.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Chemical or Petroleum Engineering.
- Strong experience in drilling and completion fluid design and cementing operations.
- Practical knowledge of WBM, SOBM, OBM, RDF and completion fluid systems.
- Experience in open-hole and cased-hole sand control and gravel-pack operations.
- Knowledge of chloride- and bromide-based completion brines.
- Understanding of fluid chemistry, cement chemistry and well integrity.
- Experience in mud-plant volume planning and shorebase operations.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex drilling fluid and cementing problems.
- Experience in technical bid evaluation and service-provider performance management.
- Solid analytical, communication and cross-functional coordination skills.
