About Us: Magma Group is a fast-growing industrial materials company building scalable businesses across recycling, engineering, and advanced materials. Headquartered in Ahmedabad, Magma serves 250+ manufacturers — from SMEs to large enterprises — with a robust focus on efficiency, reliability, and long-term value creation.
Magma Engineering & MRO is our newest vertical, built to act as an extended in-house engineering arm for factories. We deliver end-to-end solutions across precision engineering, machining, fabrication, and maintenance — from design to final delivery. Backed by a robust ecosystem of in-house capabilities and captive control over advanced machining and fabrication facilities, we operate across CNC, VMC, deep-hole drilling, honing, turn-milling, heavy fabrication, and precision inspection systems.
Position Overview: We are looking for an experienced Senior CAD/CAM Programmer with strong expertise in multi-axis CNC machining and complex component manufacturing. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing accurate and efficient CNC programs, defining machining strategies, optimizing cycle times, and supporting production prove-out for precision-machined components.
The role requires hands-on expertise in 3-axis, 4-axis, and simultaneous 5-axis programming, with exposure to advanced multi-axis and mill-turn machining operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, validate, and optimize CNC programs for complex components using 3-axis, 4-axis, and simultaneous 5-axis machining techniques.
- Support multi-axis machining requirements, including up to 7-axis and mill-turn programming, wherever applicable.
- Develop appropriate machining strategies in coordination with the Senior Manager and manufacturing team.
- Select cutting tools, toolpaths, cutting parameters, speeds, feeds,
and machining sequences to achieve optimal productivity and precision.
- Develop and support fixture design, workholding strategies, and setup planning for complex components.
- Perform toolpath simulation, collision detection, gouge checking, and program validation before production release.
- Coordinate with the relevant teams for post-processor development, configuration, validation, and optimization.
- Optimize machining cycle times, tool utilization, material removal rates, and overall machining efficiency without compromising quality.
- Support machine prove-out, first-off production, and troubleshooting during initial machining operations.
- Prepare and maintain CNC program documentation, setup sheets, tooling details, and machining instructions.
- Maintain strict CNC program revision control and ensure the correct program versions are released for production.
- Collaborate with design, production, quality, and tooling teams to resolve machining challenges and improve manufacturing processes.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in programming accuracy, machining performance, and process reliability.
- Ensure adherence to engineering drawings, GD&T; requirements, quality standards, and applicable manufacturing procedures.
Required Skills & Technical Expertise
- Strong hands-on experience in CAD/CAM programming for complex, precision-machined components.
- Expertise in simultaneous 5-axis CNC programming and multi-axis machining operations.
- Working knowledge of 3-axis and 4-axis machining, with exposure to 7-axis CNC machines and mill-turn operations.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and toolpath generation, simulation, and verification.
- Experience with CNC post-processors, machine kinematics, collision avoidance, and machining optimization.
- Knowledge of CNC controllers such as FANUC, Siemens, Mazatrol, Haas, Mitsubishi, and Heidenhain.
- Strong understanding of cutting tools, machining parameters, fixtures, workholding, and setup planning.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T;, tolerances, and complex component geometries.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of CNC program documentation, revision management, and production process controls.
Educational Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Relevant technical qualifications and substantial hands-on CAD/CAM programming experience will be considered.
- 7–12+ years of relevant experience in CNC programming and precision manufacturing.
- Demonstrated experience in simultaneous 5-axis machining and complex component programming.
- Exposure to advanced multi-axis CNC machines, mill-turn operations, and high-precision manufacturing environments.
- Ability to work independently on programming assignments while coordinating with senior engineering and production teams.
- A practical, process-oriented approach to improving machining accuracy, productivity, and manufacturing efficiency.
