About the Role
Webuters is looking for a Senior AWS DevOps & Kubernetes Engineer with a strong understanding of AWS architecture, Kubernetes, Linux systems, networking, security, infrastructure automation, and production operations.
Role: Hands-on technical individual contributor with cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes platform ownership
You will design, build, secure, and manage cloud environments supporting enterprise applications, modernization projects, and AI-powered platforms. This role requires someone who can independently own infrastructurefrom architecture and deployment to monitoring, troubleshooting, cost optimization, and disaster recovery.
Strong hands-on experience managing production Kubernetes workloads on Amazon EKS is mandatory. We are looking for an engineer who understands how systems work, can explain architectural trade-offs, and can resolve complex production issuesnot simply configure tools or execute deployment pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
- AWS Architecture and Infrastructure
Design and operate secure, scalable, and highly available AWS environments. Manage networking, compute, storage, databases, load balancing, DNS, and content delivery. Recommend infrastructure based on application requirements, security, reliability, performance, and cost.
- Kubernetes and Amazon EKS Platform Ownership
Provision, configure, and manage production Kubernetes clusters on Amazon EKS. Own cluster upgrades, worker-node management, workload deployment, autoscaling, access controls, networking, and storage integration.
Establish appropriate namespace separation, resource allocation, health checks, workload availability, and deployment standards. Troubleshoot issues across clusters, nodes, pods, services, networking, and persistent storage.
- Infrastructure as Code and Automation
Build reusable, version-controlled infrastructure using Terraform or an equivalent framework. Manage infrastructure state, environment separation, configuration changes, and deployment consistency across development, staging, and production.
Automate repetitive operational tasks using Bash and/or Python and reduce dependency on manual infrastructure changes.
- CI/CD and Release Engineering
Build and maintain deployment pipelines using tools such as Bitbucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or AWS CodePipeline. Integrate automated testing, security scanning, secrets management, approval workflows, and rollback mechanisms.
Manage container image builds and registries, Helm-based deployments, and controlled application releases. Work with development teams to make deployments repeatable, traceable, and reliable.
- Security and Cloud Governance
Implement least-privilege access, secure workload identities, secrets management, encryption, patching, audit logging, and vulnerability remediation.
Apply security controls across AWS accounts, Kubernetes clusters, containers, and deployment pipelines. Identify infrastructure risks and work with teams to resolve them.
Monitoring, Reliability, and Incident Response
Implement actionable monitoring, centralized logging, dashboards, and alerts for infrastructure, Kubernetes, and applications. Investigate production incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement preventive improvements.
Define and maintain backup, restoration, and disaster recovery procedures. Regularly test recovery processes rather than relying solely on successful backup jobs.
- Performance and Cost Optimization
Analyze resource utilization and optimize AWS services, Kubernetes workloads, node capacity, and storage. Configure appropriate scaling policies and identify unnecessary spending without compromising security or availability.
- Technical Ownership and Collaboration
Collaborate with developers, architects, QA engineers, and project stakeholders. Maintain architecture diagrams, operational runbooks, deployment documentation, and troubleshooting guides.
Review infrastructure changes, mentor engineers, communicate risks early, and take ownership of operational outcomes.
Required Skills and Experience
1) 7 - 10 years of relevant experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, site reliability engineering, or related roles, with substantial hands-on AWS and production Kubernetes experience.
Demonstrated ownership of infrastructure design, deployments, production support, troubleshooting, and operational improvements.
2) AWS Infrastructure and Architecture
Strong practical experience with EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, Elastic Load Balancing, Auto Scaling, Route 53, CloudFront, CloudWatch, and CloudTrail.
Solid understanding of public and private subnets, routing, NAT gateways, security groups, network ACLs, availability zones, encryption, and high-availability design. Ability to explain the reliability, security, and cost implications of architecture decisions.
3) Kubernetes and Amazon EKS Mandatory
Strong experience independently managing production Kubernetes environments, particularly Amazon EKS. Candidates should be comfortable with:
- Cluster operations: Cluster architecture, managed node groups, scheduling, upgrades, capacity planning, namespaces, and resource quotas.
- Workload deployment: Deployments, StatefulSets, DaemonSets, Services, ConfigMaps, Secrets, Helm charts, health probes, and resource requests and limits.
- Networking, storage, and security: Ingress controllers, load balancers, cluster DNS, persistent volumes, storage classes, RBAC, service accounts, network policies, and secure AWS access for workloads.
- Scaling and troubleshooting: Workload and node autoscaling, disruption budgets, resilient workload placement, and diagnosis of pod crashes, out-of-memory errors, scheduling failures,
connectivity issues, and storage problems.
Amazon ECS experience is an added advantage, not a substitute for Kubernetes and EKS expertise. 4) Linux, Networking, and Troubleshooting
Strong Linux administration skills, including processes, services, permissions, storage, resource utilization, and log analysis.
Practical understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, TLS certificates, firewalls, and reverse proxies such as NGINX or Apache. Ability to troubleshoot across application, operating system, container, network, and cloud infrastructure layers.
5) Infrastructure as Code and Scripting
Strong experience with Terraform, or equivalent depth in another Infrastructure as Code framework, including reusable modules, state management, version control, and controlled infrastructure changes.
Proficiency in Bash and/or Python for automation and operational tooling.
6) Containers and CI/CD
Strong Docker skills, including image creation, optimization, registry management, and container troubleshooting.
Experience building and maintaining production deployment pipelines, managing environment configuration and secrets, deploying applications with Helm, and implementing safe release and rollback strategies.
7) Observability, Security, and Reliability
Practical experience with Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, or equivalent monitoring and logging platforms.
Understanding of IAM policies, Kubernetes access controls, secrets management, encryption, audit logging, vulnerability remediation, backup retention, and recovery testing. Familiarity with recovery time and recovery point objectives and their implications for infrastructure design.
8) Ownership and Communication
Ability to work independently, prioritize operational risks, collaborate effectively with development teams, and explain technical decisions clearly.
A proactive approach to documentation, incident communication, root-cause analysis, and preventing recurring problems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional, AWS Certified Solutions Architect Skilled, or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) certification.
- Experience with GitOps using Argo CD or Flux, advanced Kubernetes autoscaling, and multi-account AWS environments.
- Experience with cloud migrations, serverless applications, AI workloads, Amazon Bedrock, cloud cost governance, or infrastructure security and compliance assessments.
What Success Looks Like: Secure, reliable, and well-documented AWS and Kubernetes environments; repeatable deployments with tested rollback procedures; actionable monitoring; validated recovery processes; fewer recurring production issues; and clear visibility into infrastructure costs.
Candidates should be prepared to discuss infrastructure they have personally built, Kubernetes environments they have operated, production incidents they have resolved, and the reasoning behind their architecture decisions. Certifications are valued, but demonstrated hands-on capability is essential.
