Job title: Purchase Manager
Location: Dharuhera, Haryana
About the Role
We are looking for a Procurement Manager to own sourcing, vendor management and cost optimisation across Sleepycat's product range, including mattresses, pillows, bedding, furniture and accessories. You will make sure we have the right materials and finished goods, at the right quality, price and lead time, to support fast-growing D2C and marketplace demand.
This is not a pure order-placing role. We want someone who negotiates, builds vendor relationships, understands raw material cost drivers and works with planning, quality and finance to protect margins and keep products in stock.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Management
- Source, evaluate and onboard suppliers and contract manufacturers for raw materials (PU foam, memory foam, latex, coir, springs, fabrics, wood and metal components), finished goods and packaging.
- Build a reliable vendor base with backup suppliers to reduce single-source risk.
- Run vendor scorecards on quality, delivery, price and compliance,
and hold regular performance reviews.
- Develop domestic and import sourcing options where they make commercial sense.
2. Negotiation & Cost Optimisation
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, credit periods, MOQs and contracts to improve gross margin.
- Track raw material price trends (chemicals, foam, fabric, freight) and plan buying and hedging accordingly.
- Run cost-saving initiatives such as value engineering, alternate materials, vendor consolidation and packaging optimisation.
- Prepare should-cost models and benchmark prices across suppliers.
3. Purchase Planning & Order Execution
- Work with the demand planning and sales teams to turn forecasts into purchase plans.
- Raise and track POs, and make sure materials and finished goods arrive on time.
- Maintain healthy inventory levels, avoiding stockouts and excess or slow-moving stock.
- Plan ahead for peak periods such as sale events, festive season and new launches.
4. Quality & Compliance
- Work with the QC team to set material specifications, approve samples and resolve quality issues with vendors.
- Make sure suppliers meet quality standards, certifications and statutory requirements.
- Handle rejections, returns, debit notes and corrective action with vendors.
5. New Product Development Support
- Work with the product and design teams on sourcing for new launches and sampling.
- Give early cost and feasibility input during product development.
- Manage timelines from sample approval to bulk production.
6. Finance, Reporting & Process
- Work with finance on vendor payments, reconciliations, GRN/invoice matching and budgets.
- Track procurement MIS: spend analysis, savings achieved, PO ageing, lead times and vendor OTIF.
- Keep procurement SOPs,
vendor documentation and ERP records clean and up to date.
7. Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with supply chain and warehousing, manufacturing partners, quality, product, finance, and marketing and sales.
What We Are Looking For
- 5-9 years of experience in procurement, sourcing or purchase, ideally in D2C, consumer durables, furniture, home furnishing, textiles or FMCG.
- A strong track record of negotiating contracts and delivering measurable cost savings.
- Experience managing contract manufacturers and a multi-category vendor base.
- A good understanding of raw material markets and costing (foam, chemicals, fabric, wood or metal).
- Working knowledge of ERP / inventory systems (SAP, Zoho, Tally, NetSuite or similar) and strong Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with a high degree of ownership.
- Graduate in Engineering / Commerce / Supply Chain; MBA or a supply chain certification is preferred.
Good to Have
- Experience in the mattress, bedding or furniture industry.
- Import and logistics knowledge (customs, incoterms, LC, freight forwarding).
- Experience with sustainability, vendor audits and compliance (BIS, ISO, etc.).
- Basic data analysis skills (Power BI, SQL or similar).
- Experience building vendor development programmes and procurement processes from scratch.
Key Success Metrics
- Cost savings and gross margin improvement
- Vendor on-time-in-full (OTIF) delivery
- Inventory health (stockouts, slow-moving stock, days of inventory)
- Quality rejection rate
- Procurement lead time and PO cycle time
- Vendor payment and working capital efficiency
- Supplier risk coverage (number of dual-sourced key items)
Who Will Be a Great Fit? Someone who treats procurement as a margin and growth lever rather than a back-office function. You understand that the right supplier relationships, cost discipline and timely supply directly affect product quality, customer experience and profitability.
