Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Purchase Head – Project to lead project procurement activities for electrical and EPC projects. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in electrical material procurement, vendor development, commercial negotiations, cost optimization, and supply chain coordination.

The role requires close collaboration with project, engineering, stores, quality control, and finance teams to ensure timely procurement, cost efficiency, and adherence to project specifications and delivery schedules.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead end-to-end project procurement, including enquiries, technical and commercial evaluation, negotiations, purchase order release, and closure.
- Develop, evaluate, empanel, and manage vendors and OEMs, ensuring quality, competitive pricing, and reliable delivery.
- Manage procurement of electrical materials, including transformers, DG sets, cables and terminations, busducts, cable trays, conduits, lighting, switches, sockets, and accessories.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and warranties to achieve cost savings against project budgets and BOQs.
- Monitor purchase orders, amendments, dispatch clearances, material deliveries, and supplier commitments to prevent project delays.
- Conduct rate benchmarking,



budget-versus-actual tracking, and price-variance analysis for effective cost control.
- Ensure purchase orders comply with project specifications, approved makes, contractual requirements, liquidated damages (LD), warranty, and applicable commercial clauses.
- Coordinate with project execution, stores, QC, accounts, and other stakeholders to meet project procurement requirements.
- Lead and review the purchase team of four members and prepare procurement MIS and performance reports for management.

Required Skills and Qualifications
- B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.
- 10–12 years of relevant experience in project procurement, preferably in EPC, electrical contracting, power distribution, or related industries.
- Strong working knowledge of SAP MM or other ERP systems, including PR, RFQ, PO, and GRN processes.
- Technical understanding of electrical equipment and materials used in substations, switchyards, and power distribution projects.
- Proven expertise in vendor development, strategic sourcing, commercial negotiations, and cost optimization.
- Experience managing high-value electrical procurement and coordinating with leading OEMs and suppliers.
- Knowledge of project BOQs, specifications, procurement budgets, delivery schedules, and commissioning timelines.
- Strong skills in MS Excel, procurement MIS, analytical reporting, and documentation.
- Understanding of GST, e-way bills, interstate logistics, and relevant procurement compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication, coordination, problem-solving, and team leadership skills.
