Role & responsibilities

A. Primary Sheet Metal Coil Sourcing (~500 Tonnes / Month)

- Identify, evaluate, and develop direct supply relationships with CRCA / HRCA / HRPO rolling mills and steel service centres across India.
- Source cold-rolled and hot-rolled steel coils in specific grades (IS 513, IS 1079, CRCA DC01–DC06, HRPO, or equivalents) and accurate thickness / width / coil weight combinations as per production BOM.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery timelines, credit terms, and mill test certificate (MTC) requirements for bulk coil procurement.
- Benchmark material costs against LME / domestic steel indices (SAIL, JSW, TATA, Essar, Jindal) and ensure procurement is competitive at all times.
- Manage inbound logistics for coil material — coordination with transporters, TPSL / slitting centres, and in-plant unloading teams.
- Monitor and control coil inventory levels to maintain optimum buffer stock without blocking working capital.
- Evaluate mill quality consistency — surface finish, thickness tolerance, mechanical properties — and initiate supplier development or corrective actions where required.




- Build and maintain an approved vendor list (AVL) for primary coil suppliers with regular performance ratings.

B. Secondary – Factory-Wide Raw Material & Consumable Procurement

- Source auxiliary sheet metal inputs: stainless steel sheets, aluminium coils, pre-painted PPGI coils, electrical steel laminations — as per factory requirements.
- Procurement of indirect materials: cutting tools, consumables, surface treatment chemicals, lubricants, abrasives, and packaging materials.
- Raise and process Purchase Orders (POs) on ERP; coordinate with accounts for payment releases and vendor reconciliation.
- Collaborate with production planning (PPC) and stores to align procurement schedules with production forecasts.
- Conduct periodic market surveys and vendor audits to ensure supply chain resilience and cost competitiveness.
- Support in import sourcing of specialty grades where domestic supply is limited — coordinate with CHAs, freight forwarders, and customs documentation.
