Role Description This is a full-time remote role for an Oracle Database Administrator at CloudGate LLC.

The Oracle Database

Administrator will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining Oracle databases across development, test, and production environments. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring database performance, tuning queries, managing high availability and backup/restore processes, and ensuring data integrity and reliability. The role involves implementing and maintaining replication strategies, addressing incidents, performing root cause analysis, and collaborating with application and infrastructure teams to resolve database-related issues.

The Oracle Database

Administrator will also apply security best practices, manage user access and roles, support audits and compliance requirements, and contribute to documentation and operational runbooks.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess robust Oracle Database Administration and general Database Administration skills, including installation, configuration, performance tuning, and backup/restore.




- Candidates should possess experience with replication and high-availability solutions to support resilient, scalable database environments.
- Candidates should possess advanced troubleshooting skills for diagnosing performance issues, errors, and incidents across complex database infrastructures.
- Candidates should possess solid database security skills, including user and role management, encryption, auditing, and compliance with security standards.
- Candidates should possess relevant experience with SQL, PL/SQL, and scripting (such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python) to automate routine database tasks and operations.
- Candidates should possess familiarity with cloud platforms (preferably Microsoft Azure) and experience integrating Oracle databases into cloud or hybrid architectures.
- Candidates should possess the ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage priorities, and collaborate effectively with distributed technical teams.
- Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience; relevant Oracle certifications are an advantage.
- Candidates should possess hands-on experience planning and executing Oracle database migrations to Microsoft Azure, including assessment, migration strategy, data validation, cutover, and rollback planning.
- Candidates should possess experience migrating Oracle workloads to Azure Database for PostgreSQL and/or Azure SQL Managed Instance, including schema conversion, PL/SQL code adaptation, data type mapping, and application compatibility testing.
- Candidates should possess experience optimizing migrated databases on Azure, including performance tuning, security configuration, backup and recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery.
- Candidates should possess familiarity with database migration tools and techniques for bulk data transfer, ongoing replication, and minimizing downtime during migration.
