About the Role

We are looking for a curious, creative, analytical and detail-oriented NPD Intern to join our team at Flavours of Calicut.

The intern will support the team in developing and improving food products, researching new product opportunities, conducting product trials, documenting findings and coordinating with different teams throughout the product development process.

This is a hands-on opportunity for someone interested in food products, FMCG, product development and consumer brands.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist the team in new product development and product improvement.
- Research new food product ideas, flavours, ingredients and market trends.
- Study competitor products, packaging, pricing and positioning.
- Assist in conducting product trials and sample evaluations.
- Maintain accurate records of product trials, recipes, ingredients and observations.
- Support sensory evaluation and collect feedback on taste, texture, appearance and overall product experience.
- Identify product issues during trials and assist in analysing possible causes.
- Suggest practical solutions and improvements based on trial observations and feedback.
- Coordinate with NPD, Production, Quality Control/Quality Assurance, Procurement and Packaging teams.
- Assist in identifying suitable ingredients and raw materials for new products.
- Support testing and improvement of existing products based on feedback.




- Help document product specifications, trial results and development processes.
- Assist in preparing product presentations, reports and internal documentation.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions for new product concepts and product variants.
- Support packaging and labelling discussions from a product-development perspective.
- Follow up on assigned trials and ensure tasks are completed within the required timelines.
- Carry out other NPD-related tasks assigned by the team.

Requirements
- Students or graduates from Food Technology, Food Science, Nutrition, Hotel Management, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or related fields are preferred.
- Freshers are welcome to apply.
- Genuine interest in food products, FMCG and new product development.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify product issues, analyse possible causes and suggest practical solutions.
- Good cross-functional coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively with NPD, Production, Quality Control/Quality Assurance, Procurement and Packaging teams.
- Hands-on and experimental mindset, with attention to detail while conducting trials, sensory evaluations and recording observations accurately.
- Positive observation and documentation skills.
- Strong attention to detail.




- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel / Google Sheets.
- Ability to conduct basic research and analyse information.
- Ability to accept feedback and adapt to changing requirements.
- Ability to manage assigned tasks independently and follow through on trials until completion.
- Willingness to learn and work hands-on with products and different teams.
- Ability to work from our Calicut office.

You will work closely with our NPD, Production, Quality, Procurement, Packaging and Brand teams and understand how a food product moves from an initial idea towards commercialisation.
