Motion Graphics Designer
Apply via the this link: https://careers.skillcathub.com/apply/motion-graphics?src=linkedin&campaign;=oct-1
Bring technical lessons to life through motion graphics, animation, and visuals — and help people without a college degree build real careers in the skilled trades.
About SkillCat
SkillCat is America's largest online trade school — over 400,000 students trained in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other skilled trades. We're a venture-backed startup on a mission to get non-college-educated workers into great careers, and our courses are how we do it.
The Role
You'll work alongside our instructional designers, taking their visual briefs and turning them into the graphics, motion, and animation that make each lesson click for a complete beginner. After Effects is your main tool; you'll also create static graphics and some 3D work in Blender.
What You'll Own
- Take an instructional designer's visual brief and produce the graphics and animation that teach the concept — infographics, labelled diagrams, flowcharts, and 2D motion graphics.
- Create simple 3D models and concept animations in Blender where they help the learner.
- Edit and assemble lesson videos.
- Keep style and branding consistent across every asset.
- Use modern AI image and video tools to work faster without losing quality.
What Good Looks Like Within a few months, your visuals make a beginner "get it" without extra explanation, your motion clarifies how a system works rather than just decorating the screen, and you turn briefs around cleanly within deadlines with a consistent style across lessons.
Who You Are
- 0–5 years creating graphics, animation, and video — ideally for e-learning or similar.
- A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in graphic design, fine/applied art, or a related field.
- Strong with After Effects (your primary tool), plus Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Comfortable building simple 3D models and animation in Blender.
- Familiar with contemporary AI image and video generation tools.
- A strong portfolio of educational or technical visuals — motion graphics especially.
- Sharp attention to detail and accuracy in how you represent information.
- A collaborative communicator who can take a brief and run with it.
Nice to have
- Experience with Articulate / Storyline 360 — we build our courses in it, so it's a plus, but we'll get you up to speed if you haven't used it.
- A motion reel.
What this is not
- Not a solo, do-your-own-thing role — you bring the instructional designer's vision to life and iterate with them.
- Not a pure static-graphics role — motion and animation are core, not occasional.
- Not a role where visuals are decoration — every asset has to teach.
The Setup
- Full-time, remote within India.
- Working hours are 3:00 PM – 12:00 AM IST, Monday to Friday — an evening shift, so we overlap with our US team. Please apply only if these hours work for you long-term.
- You'll need a personal computer, reliable internet, and a webcam for team meetings.
- Perks: Employee Provident Fund, Health Insurance and a paid yearly company meetup each December.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
