Role Overview

 Position Title: Head of Merchandising / General Manager - Merchandising

 Department: Sourcing & Merchandising / Buying Operations

 Reports To: Director

 Core Objective: Drive operational excellence, minimize supply chain risks,

optimize profit margins, and ensure timely, high-quality order delivery from vendor networks to global retail buyers.

Key Responsibilities

Vendor & Sourcing Management

 Build and manage strategic partnerships with manufacturing vendors and suppliers.

 Audit vendor capabilities, capacities, and compliance (ethical, environmental,

and technical).

 Negotiate target pricing, production terms, minimum order quantities (MOQs),

and favourable payment structures with factories.

Order Execution & Production

Tracking

 Oversee the complete lifecycle of production orders from sample development to final shipment.

 Monitor Time and Action (T&A;) calendars to guarantee critical milestones are met.

 Coordinate closely with internal quality assurance (QA) teams to schedule inspections and resolve defect issues proactively.

Client & Buyer Liaison

 Act as the primary escalation point and senior bridge between overseas buyers/retailers and production floors.

 Present seasonal collections, product developments, and cost sheets to visiting or remote clients.

 Manage responses to buyer feedback,



sample modifications, and specification changes.

Team Leadership & Financial

Accountability

 Lead, mentor, and structure a high-performing team of merchandisers and coordinators.

 Track departmental KPI metrics including on-time delivery (OTD) rates,

claim/rejection percentages, and gross margin targets.

 Implement digital workflow tools and standard operating procedures (SOPs)

to streamline inter-departmental handoffs.

Requirements & Qualifications

 Education: Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Supply Chain

Management, Business Administration, or related field.

 Experience: 10+ years of progressive merchandising experience, with at least 4–5 years in a senior leadership role within a buying house, sourcing agency, or export-import firm.

 Technical Skills: Deep familiarity with garment/product costing, textile sourcing, import/export regulations, and ERP/PLM systems.

 Soft Skills: Exceptional negotiation tactics, cross-cultural communication proficiency, high-pressure problem solving, and resilient stakeholder management.

Pay: ₹250,000.00 - ₹300,000.00 per month
