Role Description The Medical Coding Specialist is responsible for reviewing clinical documentation and assigning accurate medical codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services using standardized coding systems. Day-to-day responsibilities include validating documentation for completeness, ensuring codes meet payer and regulatory requirements, and collaborating with healthcare providers to clarify any ambiguities in records.

The specialist will help optimize reimbursement, reduce claim denials, and support compliance with billing and audit standards. This is a full-time, in office role located in Bengaluru, and involves working closely with the health information management and billing teams to maintain timely and accurate coding workflows.

Qualifications

- Coding and classification skills, including Medical Coding and Coding Experience across common coding systems (e.g., ICD, CPT, HCPCS).




- Knowledge of Health Information Management principles, including data integrity, privacy, and documentation standards.
- Strong understanding of Medical Terminology to accurately interpret clinical documentation and provider notes.
- Professional credentials such as RHIT or comparable certification in health information management or coding are preferred.
- Relevant education, such as a diploma or degree in health information management, medical coding, or a related healthcare field.
- Attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to work with electronic health record (EHR) and billing systems.
- Ability to collaborate with clinical and administrative teams and manage workloads within established timelines.
