Key Responsibilities

- Application Development &
- Maintenance:

Design, code, test, debug, and document new or modified legacy mainframe programs. [1]

- Production Support: Handle Level 3 production support, troubleshoot abends (abnormal ends), analyze system logs, and ensure minimal system downtime. [1, 2]

- Batch &

- Database Management:

Build and optimize batch processing workflows, manage database interactions, and work with relational data. [1]

- Code Reviews &

- Collaboration:

Participate in code reviews and work across teams using Agile or traditional delivery methods. [1, 2]

Mandatory Technical Skills (Core Stack)

- Languages: COBOL, JCL (Job Control Language), and often REXX or Easytrieve. [1, 2]

- Subsystems &
- Datastores:

CICS (Customer Information Control System), DB2, and VSAM (Virtual Storage Access Method). [1, 2]

- Platform: IBM z/OS workplace, TSO/ISPF. [1, 2, 3]

- Tools &

- Utilities:

Change management and scheduling tools such as Changeman, Endeavor, Control-M, or OPC, alongside debugging/utility tools like File-Aid or Abend-AID.
