ABOUT THE ROLE

As Intern, Library Operations, you will rotate across circulation, cataloguing, and reference services, working closely with the Director of Library Operations and team supervisors across functional areas. You'll get hands-on exposure to library automation systems such as KOHA, database access, and uploading resources to the library portal. Roster duty during extended hours and holidays is a mandatory part of this role.

By the end of the internship, you should be able to independently handle day-to-day circulation and cataloguing tasks.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Support day-to-day circulation desk operations, including check-in/check-out, membership records, and related user services.
- Assist with cataloguing library resources, ensuring records are accurate and kept up to date.
- Provide reference services to students and faculty, helping them locate and access library resources.
- Gain hands-on exposure to library automation systems such as KOHA, and support work on other related library platforms.
- Access library databases and upload resources to the library portal.
- Undertake roster duty during extended hours and holidays as required — this is a mandatory part of the role.

ADDIONAL INFORMATION

- Stipend: ₹20,000 per month.
- Accommodation: Available on a payment basis, subject to availability, in university-designated apartments near campus. Includes free transport between campus and apartments, and subsidised meals while on campus. Candidates already based near Sonipat may be preferred.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Qualifications

- Education: BSc/BA/BTech/MA/MSc/MBA/MCA/MLibSc (including a master's degree in Library & Information Science), through a regular/full time programme from a recognised university or institution.
- Experience: At least 6 months of experience in an academic library; school library experience does not qualify.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office; familiarity with library automation software such as KOHA will be an added advantage.
- Additional skills in website management, digitisation, or tools such as Canva and other open-source platforms will be preferred.

- You're able to commit to roster duty across extended hours and holidays, and are comfortable being based on campus in Sonipat for the internship.
