Role Overview

- Experience Level: 5-10 years of proven turnkey interior design, luxury furnishing, and site execution experience
- Department: Interior Design, Global Sourcing & Site Execution
- Reports To: Owner
- Employment Type: Full-time, 1 year contract
- Base Location & Work Split:
- 50% Base: India Office (Design development, technical drawings, pan-India vendor coordination, artisan management, and procurement tracking).
- 50% Travel: Dynamic global travel as per project demand (Frequent on-site supervision in Kenya, factory inspections and container loading in China / Turkey, and regional artisan hubs across India).
- Primary Scope of Delivery: Immediate, end-to-end turnkey ownership of two flagship projects:
- Luxury Private Villa: Complete space planning, architectural interiors, custom joinery, heritage artisan integration, and white-glove turnkey furnishing.
- Corporate Office: Functional space optimization, executive boardrooms/workstations, acoustic/lighting engineering, and commercial fit-out.
- Travel Credentials & Visas:
- A valid international passport is mandatory.
- China Visa (Business/Tourist) strongly preferred (or immediate eligibility).
- Schengen/Europe Visa preferred (or eligibility for swift processing).

We are seeking a sharp, highly ethical, and commercially astute Interior Designer to independently lead high-end residential and commercial projects from blank canvas to physical handover. The ideal candidate possesses a refined design sensibility—capable of blending timeless architectural styles, from rich Rajasthani heritage motifs to warm minimalism and clean modern architecture—without overspending. You understand how to achieve a five-star luxury finish through direct-from-source procurement, astute vendor negotiation, and deploying master craftsmen, rather than relying on expensive retail markups. This role demands complete integrity in reporting numbers, autonomous international travel, deep logistics expertise, and seamless coordination with the employer.

Core Responsibilities

1. Design Mastery & Timeless Architectural Fusion

- Eclectic Architectural Synthesis: Seamlessly blend the intricate craftsmanship and soul of Rajasthani architecture (sandstone jaalis, hand-carved teak/sheesham, bone inlay, brass trims, thikri mirror art) with clean-lined contemporary minimalism to create enduring, uncluttered spaces.
- Full Villa Turnkey Furnishing: Direct the complete FF&E; (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) lifecycle for a luxury villa. Specify and style bespoke statement pieces, custom sofas, case goods, drapery, lighting fixtures, and decorative art.
- Corporate Office Fit-Out: Design and execute a contemporary, high-functioning workplace—balancing brand identity, ergonomic furniture, acoustic paneling, and commercial-grade durability.
- Comprehensive Drawing Packages: Draft precise Good-for-Construction (GFC) sets in AutoCAD: floor layouts, elevations, reflected ceiling plans (RCP),



and detailed millwork shop drawings for modular kitchens, wardrobes, and custom vanities.
- Visual Presentations: Generate photorealistic 3D renders (V-Ray/Lumion/Enscape), sample palettes, and mood boards for rapid decision-making.

2. Direct Artisan Rolodex & Global Craftsmen Mobilization

- Direct Artisan Relationships: Maintain active, middleman-free connections with master craftsmen across India:
- Marble & Stone Craftsmen: High-precision stone book-matching, custom waterjet/Pietra Dura inlays, edge detailing, and mirror-finish diamond polishing (Makrana, Kota, Italian marbles).
- Heritage Woodcarvers: Master carpenters skilled in structural joinery, intricate hand carving, and antique finishing.
- Specialized Wall Artists: Authentic Lippan (clay-and-mirror relief), lime-plaster (Araish), and mirror mosaic artisans.
- Metal Fabricators: Artisans proficient in sheet metal cladding, beaten brass, cast bronze, and silver leafing.
- International Deployment to Kenya:
- Screen, recruit, and assemble elite artisan squads for specific site execution milestones in Kenya.
- Negotiate fair, direct daily/monthly wages or task-based contracts.
- Coordinate with administrative support to facilitate travel documentation, temporary permits, and site accommodations.
- Supervise craftsmen directly on site in Kenya to ensure execution matches architectural tolerances.

3. Global Sourcing, Manufacturing & Export/Container Logistics

- China Sourcing (Fenestration & Core Fit-Outs):
- Direct source high-performance door and window systems (thermal-break aluminum, slim-profile sliding doors, structural glass, pivot entryways) from key manufacturing centers (Foshan, Zhongshan).
- Review factory extrusion dies, glass performance metrics (Low-E, sound attenuation), and hardware endurance testing.
- Procure architectural lighting, sanitaryware, and bulk hardware directly from production lines.
- Turkey Manufacturing Knowledge (Advantageous):
- Leverage familiarity with Turkish manufacturing belts for high-end furniture, upholstery fabrics, custom lighting, modern joinery, and natural stones.
- Pan-India Sourcing Belts: Source stone, carved elements, and textiles directly from source markets (Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kishangarh, Makrana, Moradabad, Saharanpur).
- Container & Freight Logistics Mastery:
- Plan container stuffing (FCL/LCL), CBM optimization, and weight distribution.
- Enforce international export packing standards (fumigated wooden crates, moisture barriers, edge guards) to eliminate transit damage.
- Oversee export/import paperwork: Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Certificates of Origin, and Bills of Lading (B/L) for smooth customs clearance at Mombasa / Nairobi.

Protect project budgets by bypassing retail markups, substituting over-engineered elements with smart equivalents, and negotiating volume trade rates.

4. Financial Integrity, Negotiation & Reporting

- Uncompromising Financial Transparency: Table raw factory quotes, freight rates, and contractor invoices with 100% honesty. Zero undisclosed markups, kickbacks, or hidden margins.
- Granular BOQ & Cost Control: Maintain detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQ) with true landed-cost calculations (ex-factory + freight + duties + insurance + local transport).
- Tough Negotiation: Negotiate directly with manufacturers and sub-contractors for optimal pricing, favorable payment terms, and delivery guarantees.
- Flexible Collaboration: Work closely and adaptively alongside the employer, adjusting swiftly to evolving requirements and offering practical, ground-level solutions.

Candidate Profile & Qualifications Experience & Education

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture,Master degree will be given priority
- Experience: 5-7 years of hands-on interior design and turnkey execution experience, with a demonstrated portfolio of delivering and furnishing luxury villas. Commercial fit-out experience is strongly preferred.
- Portfolio: Must include photos of completed, styled, physical handovers alongside corresponding GFC working drawing sets (not solely 3D renders).

Key Competencies & Technical Skills

- Aesthetic Range: Proven skill in blending traditional Indian/Rajasthani heritage elements with clean, modern minimalism.
- Artisan Leadership: Experience managing, negotiating with, and deploying specialized Indian craft labor abroad.
- Global Procurement Literacy: Direct experience sourcing from China; working knowledge of Italian and Turkish manufacturing is an added asset.
- Logistics Acumen: Complete familiarity with sea freight container packing, export documentation, and clearing processes.
- Software Tools: Advanced AutoCAD, SketchUp / 3ds Max, V-Ray / Enscape / Lumion, Photoshop, and advanced Excel/Google Sheets for financial modeling.
- Travel Readiness: Willingness to maintain a 50/50 India-office and energetic international travel schedule (Kenya, China, Turkey, etc.). Current passport required; China and/or Schengen/Europe visas are strongly preferred.

- Value Engineering Impact: Measured cost savings through direct sourcing and hard-nosed negotiation without compromising structural or visual quality.
- Accounting Transparency: 100% verifiable vendor quotes, zero discrepancy between invoiced sums and landed cost estimates.
- Installation Accuracy: Minimal site rework; accurate fitment of imported doors, windows, and custom joinery.
- Logistics & Labor Efficiency: Zero container transit breakages, zero demurrage penalties, and efficient on-time completion of deployed artisan phases in Kenya.
