Role And Responsibilities -

The first senior finance hire at Current York Academy (NYA). The role reports directly to the Founder. It is designed for a candidate who wants to lead NYAs finance function through institutional financial cleanup, investor-grade readiness, and the organisations transaction trajectory toward fundraising and potential acquisition. The expectation is that the right candidate will grow organically into the CFO/C-suite role as the organisation scales.

What This Role Does

- Leads the investor-grade cleanup of NYAs books across its three entities in India, the US, and Dubai.
- Builds the financial narrative for institutional investor and acquirer discussions, including financial data, the data room, and management presentations.
- Owns the monthly financial close, multi-entity consolidation, and consolidated financial reporting.
- Partners with the commercial team on revenue forecasting, channel-wise revenue tracking, sell-through analysis, and financial discipline to support commercial planning. Builds the FP&A; function that connects commercial performance with the organisation’s financial trajectory.
- Builds and maintains the Annual Operating Plan, quarterly budget cycle, and financial reporting cadence for the Founder and senior management team.
- Leads tax compliance across all jurisdictions where NYA operates, coordinating with external tax counsel and CPAs in each market.
- Manages banking and lender relationships across all jurisdictions, including working capital facilities, term loans, and capital-cycle planning against production cycles.
- Leads future fundraising or acquisition processes from the organisation’s side, including due diligence room management, responses to investor due diligence, and coordination with auditors and legal counsel during transactions.
- Owns the design and rollout of ERP or accounting system implementations as NYA’s systems mature.
- Coordinates with the day-to-day accounts team,



operational finance lead, and external advisors, including CPAs, IP counsel, and corporate counsel.
- Owns the financial workstream related to NYA’s corporate structure, in coordination with cross-border legal counsel.

Experience

- 5–8 years of experience in finance roles, with a strong career trajectory toward a CFO position within 18–36 months.

- Relevant backgrounds may include
- Former Big Four professionals with startup finance experience.
- Investment banking analysts or associates who transitioned early into startup CFO or Finance Controller roles.
- Finance leads at growth-stage D2C or premium consumer brands.
- Former management consultants from Bain, McKinsey, or BCG who transitioned into startup finance leadership.
- Demonstrated experience leading fundraising, transaction preparation, or acquisition due diligence from the organisation’s side is preferred.
- Preference for candidates who have built or led the finance function at a growth-stage consumer or D2C company that has raised institutional capital or undergone transaction preparation.
- Ability to take financial books from the startup stage to investor-grade standards by building financial discipline and robust processes, rather than merely maintaining clean books.
- Cross-border experience is essential, given the complexity of entities across India, the US, and Dubai.
- Experience in monthly financial close, multi-entity consolidation, and audit preparation.
- ERP or accounting system implementation experience is an advantage.
- Qualifications: CA, CPA, ACCA, MBA, or equivalent. The right combination of credentials and professional track record matters more than any single qualification.
- Comfortable operating in family-business environments with multi-entity complexity and navigating the ambiguity of a startup environment.
- English fluency is essential; Hindi proficiency is helpful.

Location Hyderabad as the primary base, with pan-India travel as required and periodic trips to Dubai for coordination.
