Founder's Office Intern (Sales, Operations)
Location: Remote (you’ll work directly with our co-founder over calls, Slack and shared docs)
Type: Internship, 6 months, with a shot at a full-time role
Stipend: ₹10K-15K per month
Website: www.designasylum.in
If you've ever sat in a meeting and thought "I'd have closed that deal differently," you belong here.
Most interns watch a business from the outside. They fetch coffee, format slides, and leave knowing roughly what they knew when they arrived. You’ll be on the pricing call, the contract negotiation and the hiring decision. You’ll learn more in six months here than most people learn in their first three jobs.
About us
Design Asylum is a branding, packaging and UI/UX studio based in Pune. We've spent 10+ years building brands and products for names like Puma, Kia and Axis Bank, with clients across India, the US and the Middle East.
Behind the design work there's a business that has to run every day. Leads come in and need sorting. Proposals get written and chased. Contracts get drafted, read and argued over. Development partners need managing, invoices need following up, and new people need hiring. Right now our co-founder handles most of that himself. You'll work alongside him and take on more of it every month.
What you'll do
- Sort incoming leads from email, our website and ad campaigns. Work out who's serious and who has a budget we can work with before anyone books a call.
- Sit in on discovery calls with founders. Take notes, then help turn a messy conversation into a clear scope and phase plan.
- Build proposals and pitch decks on our template: phases, timelines, deliverables and payment milestones.
- Chase open proposals. A good follow-up email wins more deals than people think, and you'll write plenty of them.
- Track live projects against what the client signed. Flag it early when a deadline slips or the scope starts to creep.
- Coordinate with our development partners and contractors on estimates, handovers and payment releases.
- Draft NDAs, SOWs and service contracts from our templates, and adjust them for each deal.
- Do a first read of contracts from clients and partners. Mark the clauses that could hurt us: IP, code ownership, non-solicit, payment terms.
- Help run hiring: job posts, screening, offer letters and first-day onboarding.
- Read our weekly Google Ads report and help decide which leads are worth chasing.
What you'll learn (and it's a lot)
- How to sell to founders. How to qualify a lead, run a discovery call, push back on a client's idea without losing them, and get a proposal signed.
- How pricing works. How a quote gets built, why payment milestones are set the way they are, and when to give ground or hold firm on scope.
- How contracts work in real life. You'll handle real NDAs, SOWs, service agreements and partner MoUs, and learn which clauses protect you and which ones cause trouble six months later.
- How to run projects and partners. Timelines, vendors,
and what to do when a client moves the deadline.
- How hiring works. From the job post to someone's first day.
- How brands get built. You'll work next to live branding, packaging, UX and performance marketing projects for clients from skincare startups to an auto parts store in Canada.
- How to work with AI. We build our proposals, contracts and internal tools with Claude, and you'll use it every day. Few studios can teach this yet.
You'll get direct feedback on everything you produce, from the person who has been doing this job for 10 years.
What we're looking for
- You're in your final year or recently graduated. BBA, MBA, Law, Commerce and Design Management all work, though we care more about how you think than about your degree.
- You write explicit, confident English. An email from you doesn't need a second draft from us.
- You can read a long document and explain what it means in two lines.
- You're comfortable with numbers. You can build a quote, split a payment into milestones, and spot when an invoice is overdue.
- You keep ten things moving and close loops without being chased.
- You ask "why" before you ask "how."
- You can hear "this proposal isn't sharp enough" without taking it personally.
- You care about design and branding, even if you don't design yourself.
Nice-to-have
- You've sold something, whether a college fest sponsorship, a side business or a freelance gig
- You've done a legal, sales or operations internship before
- You've used Apollo.io, a CRM, or Google Ads
- You already use ChatGPT, Claude or similar tools for real work, not just homework
