About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and innovative Food Technologist – NPD to join our team at Mahape, Navi Mumbai. The candidate will be responsible for developing new food products from concept to commercialization, improving existing products, conducting product trials, and ensuring that products meet required standards of quality, safety, taste, cost, and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate should have 3–5 years of hands-on experience in Food Technology and New Product Development, preferably within the FMCG/food manufacturing industry.

Key ResponsibilitiesNew Product Development

- Develop new food products based on market requirements, consumer preferences, and business objectives.
- Work on product concepts, formulations, prototypes, and sample development.
- Conduct laboratory and pilot-scale trials and evaluate product performance.
- Coordinate product trials from initial concept through final commercialization.
- Modify formulations based on sensory evaluation, stability, cost, and production requirements.
- Develop and maintain product specifications, formulations, and technical documentation.

Product Improvement & Cost Optimization
- Improve existing products in terms of taste, quality, shelf life, appearance, texture, and cost.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising product quality.




- Evaluate alternative raw materials and ingredients.
- Conduct comparative trials for new ingredients, suppliers, and formulations.

Production & Scale-Up
- Coordinate with Production for scale-up and commercial trials.
- Troubleshoot formulation and processing-related issues during production trials.
- Ensure successful transfer of laboratory formulations to commercial production.
- Monitor trial batches and document observations and corrective actions.

Quality & Food Safety
- Work closely with the Quality Assurance/Quality Control team to ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards.
- Ensure products meet defined specifications and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Support shelf-life studies, stability testing, and product validation.
- Investigate product quality issues and recommend corrective actions.

Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, Procurement, Sales/Marketing, and other relevant departments during NPD projects.
- Understand market requirements and translate them into technically feasible products.
- Coordinate with suppliers for new ingredients, samples, technical specifications, and trials.
- Maintain proper records of product development activities and trial results.





Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of food science, food processing, ingredients, and formulation.
- Hands-on experience in New Product Development (NPD).
- Positive understanding of food safety and quality standards.
- Knowledge of sensory evaluation and product testing.
- Ability to conduct product trials and troubleshoot formulation/process issues.
- Positive analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as with cross-functional teams.
- Strong interest in developing innovative food products.

Qualification B.Tech / B.E. / M.Tech / M.Sc. in Food Technology, Food Science, Dairy Technology, or a related field.

Experience

3–5 years of relevant experience in Food Technology / R&D; / New Product Development, preferably in an FMCG or food manufacturing company.

Candidates with strong hands-on experience in product formulation, trials, commercialization, and product improvement will be preferred.
