Field Installation Engineer – IoT & Industrial Automation

Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on Field Installation Engineer to support the installation, commissioning, configuration, and troubleshooting of our IoT and Industrial Automation solutions at customer sites.

The role requires good practical knowledge of electrical/electronic wiring, cabling, energy meter installation, IoT hardware configuration, firmware/code uploading, and basic software configuration.

Key Responsibilities

- Carry out installation and commissioning of IoT hardware and industrial monitoring systems at customer sites.
- Perform electrical/electronic wiring, cabling, termination, crimping and panel-level connections.
- Install and configure single-phase and three-phase energy meters, including CT-based metering where applicable.
- Connect IoT devices, sensors, meters, gateways and other field equipment as per wiring diagrams and installation guidelines.
- Perform RS485/Modbus communication wiring and configuration between meters, sensors, IoT gateways and controllers.
- Upload firmware/code/configuration files to IoT hardware and field devices. Configure IoT hardware parameters such as device IDs, communication settings, IP/network parameters, Modbus addresses and data acquisition settings. Perform basic software/application configuration required to commission the deployed IoT solution.
- Verify device-to-server/cloud communication and ensure field data is correctly reflected on the software/dashboard.
- Conduct testing, troubleshooting and fault diagnosis during installation and commissioning. Troubleshoot wiring, power supply, communication, network and device configuration issues. Coordinate with internal hardware/software teams for issue resolution.
- Prepare and maintain installation checklists,



commissioning reports and customer sign-off documentation.
- Provide basic operational training and handover to customer teams after successful commissioning.
- Travel to customer sites for installation, troubleshooting and service support as required. Technical Skills Required

Candidates should have practical exposure to:
- Electrical/electronic wiring and cabling
- Wire termination, crimping and basic panel wiring
- Energy meter installation and configuration
- CT wiring and three-phase electrical systems
- RS485 and Modbus RTU communication
- Basic Ethernet/Wi-Fi/network configuration
- IoT gateways, data loggers, controllers and sensors
- Firmware/code uploading to embedded/IoT devices
- Hardware and software configuration
- Using multimeter and basic electrical/electronic testing tools
- Reading wiring diagrams and basic electrical schematics
- Troubleshooting field hardware and communication issues

Exposure to Industrial IoT, PLCs, Modbus TCP/IP, MQTT, industrial sensors, automation systems or energy monitoring systems will be an added advantage.

Qualification & Experience

- ITI / Diploma / BE/B.Tech in Electronics & Communication, Electronics, Electrical & Electronics, Instrumentation or related discipline.
- 1–3 years of hands-on experience in field installation, commissioning, service, industrial electronics, IoT, automation or a related role.
- Fresh diploma/ITI candidates with solid hands-on technical skills may also be considered for a junior position.

Preferred Candidate Profile

We are looking for someone who is:
- Strongly hands-on and comfortable working at industrial/customer sites.
- Able to independently handle basic installation and commissioning activities. Comfortable working with both hardware and basic software configuration. Good at troubleshooting and identifying field-level problems.
- Willing to travel based on project requirements.
- Able to communicate effectively with customers and internal technical teams. Disciplined in maintaining installation documentation and following safety procedures.
