1. Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and field-oriented Fiber Maintenance Engineer to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair fiber optic networks, ensuring reliable broadband connectivity and minimum network downtime. The candidate will be responsible for identifying fiber faults, performing preventive maintenance, resolving network interruptions, and coordinating with field teams and Local Cable Operators (LCOs) to ensure uninterrupted service.

2. Key Responsibilities

- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of FTTH/FTTx fiber optic networks.
- Identify and troubleshoot fiber cuts, signal loss, attenuation, and connectivity issues.
- Carry out fiber optic cable splicing, jointing, termination, and restoration activities.
- Conduct OTDR testing and optical power meter testing to identify faults and measure signal levels.
- Monitor and maintain fiber connectivity between OLTs, distribution points, splitters, and customer premises.
- Troubleshoot GPON, FTTH, and last-mile network issues.
- Attend fiber breakdowns and network outage complaints and ensure timely service restoration.
- Inspect fiber routes, joints, distribution boxes, and network infrastructure to identify potential failures.
- Coordinate with NOC, installation teams, LCOs, and other technical teams for fault resolution.
- Maintain records of fiber faults, maintenance activities, cable routes, and restoration work.
- Ensure timely closure of service tickets and adherence to service-level agreements (SLAs).
- Follow safety procedures while performing field maintenance and working on poles, ladders, and outdoor infrastructure.




- Provide technical support and guidance to field technicians when required.

3. Technical Skills Required

- Hands-on experience in fiber optic network maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of FTTH/FTTx, GPON, OLT, ONU/ONT, and optical distribution networks.
- Experience with OTDR, optical power meters, and fiber splicing machines.
- Knowledge of fiber attenuation, signal loss, optical power levels, and fault localization.
- Understanding of fiber cable routing, joint closures, splitters, and distribution boxes.
- Ability to identify and rectify fiber cuts and last-mile connectivity problems.
- Basic knowledge of IP networking and broadband troubleshooting.
- Good coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.

4. Educational Qualification

- ITI / Diploma in Electronics, Electrical, Telecommunications, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
- Candidates with relevant hands-on experience in ISP or telecom fiber maintenance may also be considered.

5. Experience Required

- Preferred experience: 1–3 years in fiber optic maintenance, FTTH, FTTx, or telecom operations.
- Experience in fiber fault identification, splicing, OTDR testing,



and network restoration is highly preferred.
- Experience working with an ISP, broadband provider, or telecom service provider will be an added advantage.

6. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) for fiber faults.
- Network availability and service restoration time.
- Number of fiber faults resolved within the SLA.
- Reduction in recurring fiber cuts and repeat complaints.
- Preventive maintenance completion rate.
- Accuracy of maintenance records and timely ticket closure.

7. Job Requirements

- Willingness to travel within the assigned service area for network maintenance.
- Ability to work in field conditions and attend emergency network breakdowns when required.
- Ability to coordinate with field technicians, LCOs, and NOC teams.
- Solid ownership, discipline, and commitment to service quality.
