Role & responsibilities
What You'll Do
- Take ownership of the day-to-day operation, preventive maintenance, and breakdown maintenance of conveyor and PLC-controlled systems at the site.
- Troubleshoot electrical, control, and communication faults quickly to minimize downtime, and find and fix the root cause so failures don't repeat.
- Read, interpret, and maintain control panel schematics, wiring diagrams, and I/O lists.
- Wire, modify, and commission control panels: power distribution, MCBs/MCCBs, contactors, relays, VFDs, PLC I/O, and field wiring to sensors and actuators.
- Develop, modify, and debug PLC programs (ladder logic, FBD, and structured text) for conveyor control, interlocks, and sequencing.
- Integrate PLCs with field devices and other systems over industrial protocols: sensors, VFDs, HMIs, scanners, tower lamps, and Flexli robot and station controllers.
- Configure and tune VFDs and motor drives for conveyor motors.
- Maintain spare parts, PLC program backups, and up-to-date as-built drawings.
- Keep maintenance logs, fault reports, and SOPs up to date, and train operators on basic fault handling.
- Follow electrical safety practices on site, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and permit-to-work, and site safety and security procedures.
- Coordinate with the hardware, firmware, and operations teams on modifications and new installations.
Preferred candidate profile
What We're Looking For
Must-have
- Diploma or B.E./B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- [2 -5] years of hands-on experience in industrial automation, conveyor systems, material handling,or plant maintenance.
- Strong ability to read and understand electrical and control panel schematics.
- Hands-on experience wiring control panels and field devices.
- Experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs. Siemens (S7-1200/1500, TIA Portal) is preferred;
Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Delta, or Schneider are also acceptable.
- Working knowledge of common industrial protocols: PROFINET, Modbus RTU/TCP, RS485, and EtherNet/IP.
- Experience with VFDs, 3-phase induction motors, motor starters, and industrial sensors such as photoelectric sensors, proximity sensors, and encoders.
- Confident use of a multimeter, clamp meter, and insulation tester, and comfort with online PLC diagnostics.
- A structured approach to troubleshooting: isolate the fault, fix it, and document it.
- Willingness to work on-site, including shift or on-call support during critical operations.
Valuable to have
- HMI/SCADA development (Siemens WinCC, or similar).
- Knowledge of safety circuits: E-stops, safety relays, safety PLCs, and interlocks.
- Familiarity with electrical standards (IEC 60204-1, IS/IEC panel practices) and panel design in EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical.
- Experience with Ethernet networking for industrial systems: IP addressing, managed switches, and basic network troubleshooting.
What You'll Get
- Full ownership of automation systems at a live, high-throughput site.
- Exposure to robotics-integrated sortation systems alongside conventional conveyor automation.
- Direct work with Flexli's hardware, firmware, and operations teams.
- Growth into larger automation projects and deployments across sites.
