EDI Developer (EXTOL / IBM iSeries / ANSI X12)

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled EDI Developer to support strategic EDI modernization and integration initiatives within a large-scale transportation and logistics environment. This role requires a strong technical background in

EXTOL map development , ANSI X12 transactions , and IBM AS/400 (iSeries) technologies. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing, developing, and supporting EDI solutions that enable seamless data exchange between internal systems, customers, vendors, carriers, and regulatory agencies.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, test, and maintain EDI maps using EXTOL .
- Develop and support inbound and outbound ANSI X12 transactions.
- Analyze business requirements and create technical EDI specifications.
- Build and maintain EDI integrations supporting transportation, logistics, and customs-related business processes.
- Troubleshoot EDI transaction failures, mapping issues, and data discrepancies.
- Collaborate with business users, development teams, and trading partners to implement current EDI solutions.
- Support onboarding and testing activities for current trading partners.
- Perform unit testing, system testing, and production deployments.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, mapping specifications, and support procedures.
- Provide ongoing production support and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications
- 5-10+ years of EDI development experience.
- 3-5+ years of hands-on EXTOL map development experience.
- Strong knowledge of ANSI X12 transaction sets and EDI standards.




- Solid experience within transportation, logistics, supply chain, freight, shipping, or U.S. Customs-related environments .
- Strong development expertise on IBM AS/400 (IBM iSeries) platforms.
- Proficiency in:
- RPG IV
- ILE RPG
- SYNON/2E
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving EDI mapping and transaction-processing issues.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with customs, import/export, or regulatory EDI transactions.
- Exposure to logistics, transportation, freight forwarding, warehousing, or supply chain applications.
- Experience integrating legacy AS/400 systems with modern enterprise applications.
- Familiarity with SQL and database technologies.
- Experience working with globally distributed teams.

Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will possess: 7-12 years of overall IT experience

5-10 years of EDI development experience

3-5+ years of dedicated EXTOL mapping/development experience

Strong IBM iSeries (AS/400) development background

Prior experience supporting transportation, logistics, freight, shipping, supply chain, and/or U.S. Customs EDI transactions
