Experience: 5+ Years
Focus Areas: Bare-Metal Linux, Ansible Automation, Kubernetes Migration
Employment Type: Full-Time
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer specializing in Kubernetes and Platform Engineering to standardize and migrate a diverse ecosystem of services from standalone containers to a production-grade Kubernetes environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Linux infrastructure, Ansible-based automation, Kubernetes administration, and platform engineering. You will build standardized deployment workflows and self-service capabilities that improve infrastructure consistency, scalability, reliability, and developer productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Kubernetes Migration: Lead the migration of persistent data services and ephemeral applications from standalone containers to Kubernetes clusters.
- Infrastructure Automation: Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks and roles for configuration management, system provisioning, patching, and infrastructure standardization.
- Platform Engineering: Design and maintain reusable Helm charts, deployment templates, and standardized workflows to enable developer self-service.
- Kubernetes Administration: Manage Kubernetes workloads, networking, storage classes, persistent volumes, resource allocation, and application lifecycle management.
- Linux Administration: Troubleshoot complex operating system, networking, performance, and resource-related issues across bare-metal and virtualized Linux environments.
- GitOps & CI/CD: Build and maintain GitOps-based deployment pipelines to automate application delivery and ensure consistent environment configurations.
- Infrastructure as Code:
Maintain infrastructure configurations and automate resource provisioning using Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform.
- Monitoring & Observability: Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, alerting, and troubleshooting solutions for infrastructure and application workloads.
- Reliability & Optimization: Identify infrastructure bottlenecks, improve cluster performance, and implement operational best practices for highly available production environments.
- Documentation & Standardization: Establish operational runbooks, reusable automation patterns, and platform standards to reduce manual intervention and deployment friction.
Required Technical Skills
- Experience: 5+ years in DevOps, Linux Systems Engineering, Infrastructure Automation, or Platform Engineering.
- Linux Administration: Strong hands-on experience with bare-metal or on-premises Linux infrastructure, command-line tools, shell scripting, process management, system performance, and troubleshooting.
- Ansible Automation: Strong practical experience developing and maintaining Ansible playbooks, roles, inventories, and reusable automation workflows.
- Kubernetes: Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes architecture, workloads, deployments, services, networking, storage, persistent volumes, storage classes, and cluster lifecycle management.
- Containerization: Experience with Docker, container runtimes,
and migration of standalone containerized applications to Kubernetes.
- Helm: Experience developing and maintaining reusable Helm charts for standardized application deployments.
- GitOps & CI/CD: Hands-on experience with Git-based deployment workflows and tools such as Argo CD or Flux.
- Monitoring & Logging: Experience with infrastructure and application observability, monitoring, centralized logging, and alerting.
- Networking & Storage: Strong understanding of Linux networking, DNS, routing, firewalls, container networking, and persistent storage.
- Scripting: Proficiency in Bash or Python for operational automation and troubleshooting.
Good to Have
- Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure-as-Code tools.
- Experience managing production Kubernetes clusters in on-premises or bare-metal environments.
- Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, or the ELK/EFK stack.
- Knowledge of high availability, disaster recovery, backup strategies, and Kubernetes security best practices.
- Experience building internal developer platforms and self-service infrastructure capabilities.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Strong troubleshooting skills with a hands-on, command-line-first approach.
- An automation-first mindset, prioritizing repeatable Ansible playbooks over manual fixes.
- Proven experience migrating workloads to Kubernetes in production environments.
- Ability to standardize infrastructure and create reusable deployment patterns.
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced engineering setting.
Key Hiring Priorities: Linux administration, Ansible automation, Kubernetes migration, on-premises infrastructure, Helm, and GitOps.
