To manage and execute Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), inspection and condition assessment of boiler and pressure parts, while supporting maintenance planning, outage planning, resource planning and execution monitoring to ensure safe, reliable and timely availability of thermal power plant equipment. The position will be responsible for identifying equipment health, detecting defects at an early stage, recommending corrective actions and ensuring inspection activities are properly integrated with preventive, predictive and overhaul maintenance plans. 3.

Key Responsibilities A. NDT &

• Boiler Inspection * Plan and coordinate NDT activities for boiler pressure parts and associated equipment.

* Carry out/coordinate inspection of: Boiler tubes and headers Economizer Superheater and reheater Water wall tubes Steam drums Main steam/reheat steam pipelines Boiler feed and drain lines Weld joints and critical components * Boiler structure and critical attachments * Coordinate NDT techniques such as: Ultrasonic Testing (UT/UTT) Thickness measurement Dye Penetrant Testing (DPT) Magnetic Particle Testing (MPT) Radiography Testing (RT) Hardness testing Positive Material Identification (PMI) Replication/metallurgical examination, wherever applicable * Monitor tube thickness and prepare thickness mapping and corrosion/erosion monitoring reports.

* Identify erosion, corrosion, cracks, creep damage, weld defects and other degradation mechanisms.

* Establish and maintain critical locations for periodic inspection.

* Analyse previous NDT/inspection results and identify deterioration trends.

* Recommend tube replacement, repair, welding or other corrective actions based on inspection findings.

* Ensure NDT activities comply with applicable statutory requirements, approved procedures, QA/QC requirements and plant safety standards.

* Verify NDT agency competency, procedures, calibration and test reports.

* Review NDT reports and ensure proper documentation and traceability. B.

Boiler Condition

Assessment * Develop equipment-wise health assessment and inspection history.

* Prepare critical equipment inspection database.

* Analyse repeated tube leakage and failure locations to identify root causes.





* Correlate NDT results with: Tube leakage history Erosion rate Corrosion rate Operating parameters Metallurgical condition Ash/fuel characteristics * Develop remaining-life assessment inputs for critical boiler components.

* Support RLA/life-assessment studies and statutory inspections.

* Identify high-risk components and recommend condition-based maintenance. C. Maintenance &

• Outage Planning * Prepare annual, quarterly and monthly boiler maintenance plans.

* Develop detailed planning for annual overhaul and major shutdowns.

* Prepare activity-wise schedules for: Boiler inspection NDT Tube replacement Header inspection Pressure part repair Refractory work APH/duct inspection Boiler structural inspection * Develop WBS and activity-wise schedules for major overhauls.

* Estimate manpower, materials, tools, equipment, cranes, scaffolding and specialist agency requirements.

* Prepare material requirement plans and ensure critical spares are available before shutdown.

* Coordinate with Mechanical, Electrical, C&I;, Operations, Safety, Stores and Procurement teams.

* Monitor planned versus actual progress during outages.

* Identify critical-path activities and remove execution bottlenecks.

* Conduct daily progress review during major shutdowns.

* Prepare recovery plans for delayed activities.

* Ensure proper shutdown/start-up sequence and coordination between departments. D. Planning &

• Performance Monitoring * Prepare preventive and predictive maintenance schedules.

* Develop equipment-wise maintenance plans based on condition monitoring.

* Monitor PM compliance and overdue maintenance.

* Track MTBF, MTTR, repeat failures and maintenance backlog.

* Analyse forced outages and boiler tube leakage trends.





* Prepare MIS and management dashboards for maintenance performance.

* SAP or equivalent maintenance management systems for work orders and planning.

* Support preparation of annual maintenance budgets and manpower plans. E.

Technical

Analysis &

• Failure Investigation * Conduct RCA of boiler tube leakage and pressure-part failures.

* Analyse failure mechanisms such as: Erosion Corrosion Flow-accelerated corrosion Thermal fatigue Creep Hydrogen damage Weld defects Fly-ash erosion * Clinker-related damage * Prepare technical reports with photographs, NDT findings and recommendations.

* Track implementation of RCA recommendations.

* Develop preventive actions for recurring failures. F. Safety &

• Statutory Compliance * Ensure compliance with applicable boiler inspection and statutory requirements.

* Coordinate statutory boiler inspections and documentation.

* Ensure protected execution of NDT activities, including radiography safety where applicable.

* Ensure work permits, isolation, confined-space requirements and other safety procedures are followed.

* Participate in HAZOP/JSA/toolbox meetings wherever applicable.

* Ensure contractor compliance with plant safety standards.
