Cost & Budget Manager – High-Rise Building Construction

Industry: High-Rise Residential / Commercial Building Construction Location: Mumbai

Experience: 15–20 Years Qualification: B.E. / B. Tech in Civil Engineering Preferred

Qualification: NICMAR or MBA in Construction Management / Finance will be an added advantage Mandatory

Requirement: Prior experience working with a Project Management Consultancy (PMC) is required.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented Cost & Budget Manager to manage project cost planning, budgeting, cost control, financial forecasting, and commercial monitoring for high-rise residential and commercial building construction projects. The candidate should have robust PMC experience, with the ability to monitor project expenditure, identify cost deviations, manage budget revisions, and provide accurate cost reports to support project management decisions.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain project budgets, cost plans, and cost-control systems throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor actual project expenditure against approved budgets, commitments, and forecast costs.
- Prepare cost estimates, budgetary assessments, cash flow forecasts, and periodic cost reports.
- Review BOQs, quantity estimates, tender documents, and contractor quotations to assess cost implications.
- Evaluate variations, change orders, claims, and additional works to determine their impact on the approved project budget.
- Coordinate with the design, planning, procurement, contracts, and construction teams to ensure effective cost management.
- Identify cost overruns, analyse budget deviations, and recommend appropriate corrective measures.




- Review contractor and consultant cost submissions and provide commercial and budgetary recommendations.
- Maintain cost trackers, commitment registers, variation logs, and project cost databases.
- Prepare monthly cost reports, budget variance analyses, and financial forecasts for management review.
- Support value engineering initiatives and identify opportunities for cost optimisation without compromising quality, safety, or project specifications.
- Ensure proper cost documentation, reporting accuracy, and compliance with project procedures and client requirements.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders on project cost and budget-related matters.

Experience & Skills Required
- 15–20 years of relevant experience in cost management, budgeting, and cost control for building construction projects.
- Mandatory PMC experience in high-rise residential or commercial building construction projects.
- Strong understanding of construction cost estimation, BOQs, quantity surveying, tendering, contracts, and variation management.
- Experience in budget monitoring, cost forecasting, cash flow analysis, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and cost management/reporting tools.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams and senior management.
