Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled, organized, and reliable Live-In Cook to take full ownership of the kitchen at our combined office and residence.
This role involves planning and preparing 3 daily, wholesome home-style meals for live-in residents and on-site staff/team members, maintaining commercial-grade cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, and actively managing pantry inventory and grocery restocking.
Key Responsibilities
1. Meal Preparation & Planning
- Three Meals Daily: Prepare fresh, timely, and nutritious meals every day:
- Breakfast: Fresh, wholesome options along with morning tea/coffee.
- Lunch: Balanced meals for both residents and working employees.
- Dinner: Light, clean, home-style dinner for residents.
- Beverages & Refreshments: Mid-morning and evening tea/coffee and water service for the office.
- Menu Execution: Cook well-balanced home-style meals (low oil, fresh spices, proper seasoning) with openness to following specific dietary preferences, regional preparations, or clean eating requirements.
- Punctuality: Serve all meals reliably on a predictable daily timetable aligned with work and residential routines.
1. Kitchen Hygiene, Sanitization & Deep Cleaning
- Daily Maintenance: Wash and sanitize all cooking vessels, utensils, cutting boards, and countertops immediately after each meal service.
- Appliance Upkeep: Clean the stovetop, microwave, mixer-grinder, chimney, and refrigerator daily.
- Deep-Cleaning Routine: Conduct weekly deep cleans of the kitchen—degreasing tile splashbacks, scrubbing kitchen floors and drains, organizing storage cabinets, and defrosting/wiping down the refrigerator.
- Waste Disposal:
Segregate wet/kitchen waste and dry waste; clear garbage bins after every meal prep cycle to keep the kitchen pest-free and odor-free.
1. Pantry, Stock & Inventory Checks
- Inventory Monitoring: Perform regular audits of pantry staples (grains, pulses, spices, oils, condiments) and fresh perishables (vegetables, dairy, produce).
- Restocking & Lists: Maintain a running shortage list and notify management in advance to prevent stockouts of daily essentials.
- Storage Best Practices: Ensure proper storage, labeling, and rotation (First-In, First-Out) of perishable ingredients to avoid food spoilage and minimize waste.
Candidate Profile & Requirements
- Experience: 3+ years of experience as a cook in private households, guesthouses, small commercial kitchens, staff cafeterias, or boutique hospitality setups.
- Cooking Skills: Confident in preparing consistent, tasty, and hygienic North/South Indian food and everyday homestyle staples for groups of [insert headcount, e.g., 6–12 people].
- Hygiene Standards: Strict personal hygiene, clean cooking habits, and dedication to food safety.
- Work Style: Responsible, calm under kitchen prep pressure, and able to work cooperatively in a mixed residential/office environment.
- Documentation: Valid government ID (Aadhaar Card) and verifiable background references from prior employers.
