Job Profile : COBOL Developer

Location: Chennai, India

Experience: 5 years The Role:

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join the Core Banking IT team.The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in COBOL, UNIX, SQL, Oracle Database, and PL/SQL, along with experience in application development, maintenance, and L3 production support. The candidate should be comfortable working in a dynamic environment, adapting to changing business requirements, and collaborating with large development and support teams.

Responsibilities:

- Develop, maintain, and support applications using COBOL, UNIX, and SQL.
- Perform application development, maintenance, enhancement, and production support activities.
- Provide L3 support and resolve technical issues and support tickets.
- Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Perform monitoring and event-related activities, troubleshoot issues, and ensure application stability.
- Work with Oracle Database and PL/SQL for database operations and data management.




- Conduct unit testing and integration testing and follow test-driven development (TDD) practices where applicable.
- Collaborate with development and support teams to analyze requirements and deliver effective solutions.
- Participate in Agile development processes and adapt to changing business needs.
- Follow change management processes and established coding standards.
- Use tools such as AutoSys, JIRA, ServiceNow, and SQL Developer to support development and maintenance activities.

Must - Have Qualifications: · Minimum 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer or in a relevant application development and support role.

· Strong hands-on experience with COBOL, UNIX, and SQL.

· Valuable knowledge of Oracle Database and PL/SQL.

· Experience in application development, maintenance, and support.

· Understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies.

· Experience with unit testing and integration testing.

· Good understanding of Unix server environments and platforms.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.

· Knowledge of CICS

· Familiarity with AutoSys, DevOps tools, ServiceNow, JIRA, and SQL Developer.

· Experience in investment banking or financial services is an added advantage.

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a large development or support team.

· Strong communication and teamwork skills.

· Ability to learn new tools and technologies and adapt to changing processes.
