CCTV Engineer – Surveillance & ELV Systems

1. Job Summary

Vishant Solutions Private Limited is looking for a skilled and field-oriented CCTV Engineer to handle the installation, configuration, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of CCTV surveillance systems across commercial, industrial, institutional, healthcare, and government projects.

The candidate should have hands-on experience with IP and analog CCTV systems, NVRs/DVRs, network cameras, surveillance storage, networking, and remote monitoring solutions. The role involves site execution, coordination with technicians and project teams, troubleshooting, and ensuring timely delivery of projects in accordance with technical specifications and quality standards.

2. Key Roles and Responsibilities

A. CCTV Installation and Project Execution

- Install, configure, test, and commission IP and analog CCTV surveillance systems.
- Handle installation of dome, bullet, PTZ, panoramic, ANPR, and other specialized cameras as per project requirements.
- Supervise camera mounting, alignment, focusing, field-of-view adjustment, and installation at designated locations.
- Execute CCTV cabling using CAT6/CAT6A cables, optical fibre, coaxial cables, and associated accessories.
- Install and configure NVRs, DVRs, surveillance-grade HDDs, PoE switches, racks, and monitoring workstations.
- Ensure proper cable dressing, labelling, termination, and adherence to approved layouts and BOQs.
- Coordinate with civil, electrical, networking, and other ELV teams for smooth project execution.

B. Configuration and Commissioning

- Configure IP addresses, camera parameters, recording schedules, resolution, frame rates, and video retention settings.
- Configure NVR/DVR recording, playback, storage allocation, and backup settings.
- Set up remote viewing through authorized desktop applications and mobile applications.
- Configure user accounts, access permissions, time synchronization, and secure device settings.
- Integrate CCTV systems with video management software (VMS), video walls, access control, and other systems wherever required.
- Configure advanced analytics such as motion detection, intrusion detection, line crossing, people counting, and ANPR, where supported by the equipment.
- Verify camera coverage, image quality, night vision, recording, playback, and system performance before handover.

C. Networking and Technical Troubleshooting

- Troubleshoot camera offline issues, IP conflicts, connectivity failures,



PoE power issues, recording failures, and video quality problems.
- Diagnose network connectivity issues involving switches, routers, VLANs, IP addressing, and fibre links.
- Perform basic bandwidth and storage calculations to support camera sizing and video retention requirements.
- Identify hardware faults and coordinate warranty replacements or OEM support where necessary.
- Ensure secure configuration of devices, including strong passwords, restricted access, updated firmware, and removal of default credentials.

D. Preventive Maintenance and After-Sales Support

- Conduct preventive maintenance and health checks of installed CCTV systems.
- Inspect cameras, connectors, cabling, power supplies, recording devices, and storage health.
- Attend service calls, diagnose faults, and complete corrective maintenance within agreed timelines.
- Maintain service records, fault reports, and equipment replacement details.
- Support Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) activities and ensure customer satisfaction.

E. Documentation and Reporting

- Prepare daily progress reports, installation checklists, testing reports, and commissioning records.
- Maintain camera-wise IP address lists, camera schedules, equipment serial numbers, and configuration details.
- Prepare as-built drawings, camera location plans, and system handover documents.
- Record material consumption, cable lengths, and site requirements for BOQ reconciliation.
- Report project progress, technical issues, and material shortages to the Project Manager.

F. Site Safety and Quality Control

- Ensure compliance with site safety guidelines, PPE requirements, and work permits.
- Follow safe working practices for ladder work, working at heights, drilling, and equipment installation.
- Ensure that installation quality meets approved drawings, OEM recommendations, and project specifications.
- Coordinate inspections, rectify snags, and ensure timely completion of project deliverables.

3. Educational Qualifications

- Diploma or ITI in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Hardware, Telecommunications, or a related technical discipline.
- Candidates with relevant hands-on CCTV installation and commissioning experience may also be considered.

4. Technical Skills Required

- Practical knowledge of IP and analog CCTV surveillance systems.
- Familiarity with NVRs, DVRs,



IP cameras, PTZ cameras, PoE switches, and surveillance HDDs.
- Understanding of TCP/IP, IPv4 addressing, subnetting, LAN connectivity, PoE, and basic VLAN concepts.
- Knowledge of CAT6 cabling, fibre connectivity, connectors, and cable termination.
- Familiarity with video management software, remote monitoring applications, and camera configuration tools.
- Ability to perform basic bandwidth, storage, and recording-retention calculations.
- Knowledge of CCTV testing, fault diagnosis, and preventive maintenance.
- Basic proficiency in MS Excel, email, and technical documentation.

Experience with leading surveillance brands such as Hikvision, CP Plus, Dahua, Bosch, Axis, Hanwha, or equivalent OEMs will be an advantage. 5. Experience and Competencies

- 1–4 years of relevant experience in CCTV installation, commissioning, maintenance, or ELV project execution.
- Experience in commercial buildings, hospitals, educational institutions, factories, warehouses, campuses, or government projects will be preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting, site coordination, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to supervise technicians and coordinate with clients and other contractors.
- Valuable communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
- Willingness to travel to project sites and undertake outstation assignments as required.
- Ability to work independently and complete assignments within project deadlines.

6. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- Timely installation and commissioning of CCTV systems.
- First-time success rate of installation, configuration, and testing.
- Compliance with approved camera layouts, BOQs, and technical specifications.
- Reduction in installation defects, repeat service calls, and rework.
- Timely closure of service requests and preventive maintenance activities.
- Accuracy of technical documentation and handover records.
- Compliance with site safety standards and customer requirements.

7. Compensation and Benefits Salary will be commensurate with the candidate's experience, technical competence, and suitability for the role. Travel allowances and other applicable benefits will be provided as per company policy.
