- Patient Preparation:Cath Lab Technicians prepare patients for procedures by taking vital signs, starting IV lines, reviewing medical history, and explaining the procedure.
- Equipment Preparation and Maintenance:They ensure all necessary equipment is sterile, functional, and ready for use, including imaging equipment like fluoroscopy machines.
- Patient Monitoring:Technicians closely monitor patients' vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation, throughout the procedure.
- Assisting Physicians:They assist cardiologists during procedures, which may involve inserting catheters, administering contrast agents, and operating imaging equipment.
- Documentation and Record Keeping:They accurately document patient information, procedure details, and any relevant observations.




- Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:They are responsible for troubleshooting equipment issues and assisting with any complications that may arise during the procedure.
- Post-Procedure Care:Technicians provide post-procedure care, including patient education on wound care, activity restrictions, and medication instructions.
- Inventory Management:They may also be involved in maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment within the cath lab.
- Emergency Response:Cath Lab Technicians are trained to respond to emergency situations and assist with procedures like angioplasty or stent placement.
