Why Join BoomerangFX?
BoomerangFX is redefining how private-pay healthcare practices operate and grow. Recognized through Deloitte’s Technology Rapid 500 program as one of North America’s fastest-growing technology companies, BFX brings together practice management software, digital marketing, and AI-powered solutions to help healthcare providers build stronger, more profitable businesses.
With offices across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and India, we are building a global healthcare technology company with an ambitious vision: to become the AI operating system and growth infrastructure for private-pay healthcare. Our next phase requires strong financial controls, reliable reporting, and disciplined execution.
About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on QA Engineer who takes real pride in finding problems before our customers do. Clinics rely on us every day to book patients, take payments and run their marketing, so every release has to work. You will test across our platform:
- RUN : practice management, including scheduling, patient records, payments and reporting.
- Lead Engine AI : our CRM and marketing suite, including Auvia , our conversational AI agent.
We have a busy year ahead. We're building new features, fixing the issues that cause the most pain for existing customers, upgrading our architecture, and running load, penetration and disaster recovery testing. Your job is to do the testing: write and run the tests, find and report defects, verify fixes, and give the team an honest picture of quality at every step. This role is for someone who moves with intention and speed, holds a high standard of excellence, and can manage several priorities at once without losing sight of what matters most. You don't wait to be told where to look. You dig in, ask questions, and follow a problem until you understand it. You'll report to the QA Lead / Director of Engineering and work closely with cross-functional teams - engineering, Product Management, DevOps, Customer Success and Support across Canada and India.
Key Responsibilities
New Feature Testing
- Review user stories and acceptance criteria during refinement and raise gaps or ambiguities before work enters a sprint.
- Write clear test cases from requirements,
process flows and API documentation.
- Carry out functional, exploratory, integration and end-to-end testing across web, mobile and API layers.
- Test AI features, including Auvia, for accuracy, consistency, edge cases and safe behaviour when things go wrong.
- Support UAT and check releases in production after they go live.
Bug Fixing & Customer Pain Points
- Work with Customer Success and Support to reproduce customer-reported issues quickly, and log them with clear steps, evidence and customer impact.
- Apply consistent severity so the fixes that relieve the most customer pain go first, rather than whoever asked last.
- Verify every fix against the customer's actual problem, not just the ticket, and add regression tests so it doesn't come back.
- Flag recurring issues you notice so the team can fix the root cause.
Load & Performance Testing
- Build and run load, stress, spike and soak tests against our critical workflows and APIs, following the agreed load testing plan.
- Collect and report results (response times, throughput, error rates) and work with engineering and DevOps to pin down bottlenecks.
- Retest after fixes and compare results against performance baselines before each major release.
Security & Penetration Testing
- Support penetration testing carried out by our security partners: prepare environments and test accounts, answer questions, and track findings.
- Run security test cases as part of regular testing, including login and session handling, user roles and permissions, input validation and common OWASP Top 10 issues.
- Check that features follow privacy, consent and data-handling requirements, such as opt-outs and access to patient data.
Architecture Upgrade
- Run regression testing to confirm existing features behave the same after each upgrade.
- Test data migrations for completeness and accuracy, and compare results between the old and new systems.
- Confirm third-party integrations (payments, messaging, calendars and others) keep working after each change.
Disaster Recovery Testing
- Take part in disaster recovery tests, including backup restores and failover and failback exercises.
- After a restore or failover, check that data is complete and correct and that the platform works end to end.
- Record what worked, what failed and how long recovery took, and retest once issues are fixed.
Test Automation
- Write and maintain automated UI and API tests, and keep them reliable and fast.
- Keep automated tests running in the CI/CD pipeline and fix flaky tests promptly.
- Prepare test data and environments, using anonymized data so real patient information is never exposed.
Communication & Collaboration
- Set clear expectations on what has been tested, what hasn't, and the risks that remain. Give early, honest updates when something is blocked or quality is at risk.
- Write defect reports and test summaries that developers can act on and leaders can understand.
- Work across several initiatives at once without dropping quality on any of them.
- Build trust and good working relationships across Canada- and India-based teams and time zones.
What are we looking for:
- Resource require Laptop with good speed internet and working camera/mic
- 5+ years of hands-on software QA experience in B2B SaaS or web-based platforms.
- Strong manual and exploratory testing skills, with a sharp eye for edge cases.
- Experience writing test cases and clear, reproducible defect reports.
- Hands-on test automation experience for UI and APIs (for example Playwright, plus Postman or a REST API framework).
- Experience running load or performance tests with tools such as k6, JMeter or Gatling.
- Working knowledge of security testing basics and the OWASP Top 10.
- Good SQL skills for validating data and setting up test data.
- Experience working in agile teams (Scrum, Kanban) with Jira and Confluence or equivalent tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with our stack: React, SQL Server, Azure and Python.
- Experience testing data migrations, system upgrades, or backup and restore.
- Experience retesting findings from penetration tests or security scans.
- Experience in healthcare, healthtech, payments or another regulated domain (HIPAA, PHIPA, PCI DSS).
- Experience testing AI or LLM features, such as conversational agents.
- Experience testing mobile applications.
- Experience working with offshore or distributed engineering teams.
- ISTQB certification or equivalent is an asset.
