Job Role: Backend Developer / Software Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for Backend Engineers to build and scale core services and platform infrastructure that power our AI-driven products and financial workflows.

The role involves developing reliable backend services for user-facing applications as well as building resilient systems that support AI agents executing complex, multi-step financial workflows. You will work on long-running processes, asynchronous execution, retries, failure recovery, and integrations with external financial systems.

You will be responsible for building scalable fintech services, designing robust APIs, and developing reusable backend components that support the expansion of our financial products across multiple domains.

Key Responsibilities

- Backend Development: Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java (Spring Boot) and/or Python to support financial workflows, user state, and payment-related operations.
- Workflow Management: Design and implement resilient, multi-step workflows that support long-running execution, partial recovery, and step-level retries.
- Third-Party Integrations: Build standardized APIs and integration layers for external systems, including banks, lenders, and credit bureaus.
- System Reliability: Ensure data consistency, transactional integrity, and idempotency when handling retries, concurrent requests, and unexpected execution sequences.
- API Design: Develop robust, well-structured RESTful APIs that provide clear execution status and actionable responses for frontend applications and AI agents.
- Scalable Architecture: Design modular backend systems with transparent domain boundaries and reusable components to support new financial products and business verticals.
- Asynchronous Processing: Implement asynchronous workflows, message queues,



retry mechanisms, and failure-handling strategies for distributed systems.
- Performance and Monitoring: Build reliable, observable, and maintainable backend services with a focus on scalability, performance, and fault tolerance.

Required Skills and Qualifications

- 3+years of hands-on experience developing backend services using Java, Python, or a similar programming language.
- Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot or Python with FastAPI/Django.
- Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and backend applications.
- Good understanding of relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, including schema design, indexing, SQL queries, and transaction management.
- Understanding of API contracts, data modeling, domain-driven design principles, and modular application architecture.
- Experience with asynchronous processing, multi-step workflows, message queues, retries, and failure recovery in distributed systems.
- Understanding of data consistency, concurrency handling, idempotency, and transactional correctness.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to take ownership of technical tasks and translate evolving requirements into reliable, maintainable solutions.

Good to Have

- Experience in fintech, payments, lending, banking, or other regulated financial domains.
- Hands-on experience with Redis, Kafka, Amazon SQS, or similar caching and messaging technologies.
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools such as Temporal or Cadence, or task queues such as Celery.
- Experience building APIs or backend services consumed by automated systems, scripts, or AI agent frameworks.
- Knowledge of AWS, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tools such as Datadog, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry.
- Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
- Previous experience owning a feature or mentoring junior engineers.
