About the role
Excitel brings leased fibre up to the hub of each Excitel Regional Partner (ERP) or LCO. The ERP then deploys and owns the FTTH last mile (primary and secondary splitters, drop wire) and is responsible for its uptime, MTTR, complaint resolution and new installations.
The AVP Partner Network Assurance owns the quality of this partner-run network across multiple regions. The role is fully accountable for complaint ratios, MTTR and uptime, while the hands-on work is done by ERPs and their technicians. Success comes from robust architecture and standards, deep technical guidance and firm partner governance, not direct control.
Key responsibilities
Network quality and performance
- Own complaint ratio, MTTR, repeat complaints and uptime for all ERP networks in assigned regions.
- Set region-, cluster- and ERP-level targets; track daily and review weekly/monthly.
- Drive RCA and time-bound remediation for chronic, high-complaint ERP networks.
- Lead restoration of major and area-wide disruptions, coordinating ERPs, NOC and backbone teams.
Architecture and deployment standards
- Define the reference FTTH architecture: splitter ratios and topology, OLT port planning, fibre routing and redundancy.
- Set and enforce SOPs for splicing, enclosures, FAT/FDB placement, drop wire and ONU installation.
- Define optical power budgets and Rx/Tx thresholds; run periodic network health audits.
- Design solutions for new geographies, high-density clusters (MDUs, societies) and capacity upgrades.
Partner governance and capability
- Guide, supervise and audit ERPs and technicians to Excitel standards, without direct authority over them.
- Build partner scorecards, SLAs,
escalation matrices and incentive/penalty levers.
- Run training and certification for ERP technicians; technically onboard new ERPs.
Technical leadership and team
- Act as senior escalation point for complex faults across OLT, ONU, MPLS switches and the optical layer, at hardware and firmware level.
- Build fault playbooks and knowledge bases from RCA learnings.
- Lead, hire and develop a large pan-regional team of Network Managers and Field Engineers.
- Work with NOC, Core Network, Customer Service, Sales and Partner Business teams; report performance to senior leadership.
Technical competencies
- FTTH and optical (expert): GPON/XGS-PON architecture, splitter planning, optical power budgeting and management, OTDR/power meter/splicing tools, fibre plant best practices.
- Active equipment (hardware and firmware): OLT (cards, PON ports, provisioning, VLANs, firmware), ONU/ONT (provisioning, upgrades, common failures), MPLS/aggregation switches
- (L2/L3, MPLS, redundancy).
- Multi-vendor exposure preferred (e.g., Huawei, ZTE, Nokia, Syrotech, V-SOL, Cisco, Juniper).
- Operations: NMS/EMS and ticketing tools, structured RCA, SOP creation, dashboards and data-driven reviews.
Experience and qualifications
- 10- 15 years in broadband, ISP, telecom or cable operations with deep FTTH exposure.
- Proven experience working directly with LCOs or partner networks on quality, uptime and complaint resolution.
- 5+ years leading large, multi-state field and network teams; track record of reducing complaint ratios and MTTR at scale.
- B.E./B.Tech in Electronics, Telecom, Electrical or Computer Science; FTTH/PON or networking certifications (CCNA/CCNP, JNCIA) are a plus.
