Assistant Controller / Accounting Manager

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Controller / Accounting Manager to oversee and coordinate the preparation of property financial statements for a portfolio of clients. The role involves supervising a team of accountants, working closely with clients and auditors, and ensuring that all accounting practices comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise the accounting activities for an assigned team of accountants.

Ensure timely delivery of accurate financial statements within required client deadlines.

Communicate regularly with clients regarding the financial performance of their properties and address accounting-related queries.

Review financial statements prepared by the accounting team to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Supervise the review of rent rolls, bank reconciliations, and monthly operating results against approved budgets.

Coordinate with operational team members to prepare and approve financial budgets for each property.

Participate in the recruitment process and conduct annual performance reviews for Senior Accountants, Accountants, and Junior Accountants.

Monitor team efficiency and recommend appropriate staffing levels to meet performance expectations.





Support Assistant Controllers in responding to financial audit requests.

Identify accounting and operational issues and recommend improvements to accounting procedures and processes.

Work collaboratively with fellow Assistant Controllers, clients, auditors, and internal stakeholders to maintain high-quality accounting standards.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelors or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

CA or CPA designation preferred.

Experience in third-party multifamily property management is preferred.

Previous experience leading or managing accounting teams.

Strong analytical, quantitative, and critical-thinking skills.

Solid understanding of financial and accounting principles.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.

Strong leadership and team-management capabilities.
