Role Description The ASD - Design Engineer - Trainee role is a full-time, on-site position based in Chennai. The trainee will support design engineering activities for wheel and suspension products, including creating and updating CAD models and drawings, assisting in product design and development, and collaborating with senior engineers on design reviews and validation.

Daily responsibilities include working with cross-functional teams in manufacturing and quality, preparing technical documentation,



and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives in design processes. The role also involves learning and applying industry standards and customer specifications, supporting prototype development, and helping to resolve design-related issues on the shop floor. This position is designed to build strong foundational skills in automotive design engineering within a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

- Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering and understanding of core engineering principles relevant to automotive and industrial products.
- Applied skills in Design Engineering and Product Design, including basic knowledge of design for manufacturing and assembly.
- Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools used for 2D drafting and 3D modeling of mechanical components and assemblies.
- Basic exposure to Electrical Engineering concepts as they relate to integrated automotive systems is an advantage.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline; recent graduates or final-year students are encouraged.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, standards, and specifications, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-based manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to learn, adapt to structured training programs, and adhere to safety, quality, and process compliance requirements.
