Architecture Leadership & Design (Key Skills)

6+ years of hands-on experience in solution architecture or senior technical architecture roles

Proven track record of delivering end-to-end solution architectures for large-scale, complex technology programmes

Expert-level proficiency in architectural styles including microservices, event-driven, API-led, and data-intensive architectures

Experience producing and owning architecture documentation: Solution Architecture Documents (SADs), non-functional requirements, architecture decisions, and scope assessments

Ability to develop and communicate architecture vision, roadmaps, and trade-off analysis to both technical and non-technical audiences

Experience mentoring engineers and conducting architecture reviews and peer assessments

Cloud platform experience, particularly GCP and/or AWS

Containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)

Infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipeline approaches

Integration & API Design

API design and strategy: REST, GraphQL, and event-based integration patterns

Microservices architecture design and inter-service communication patterns

Experience with messaging and event streaming platforms

Data platform design: data lakes, lakehouses,



and streaming and batch pipeline architecture

Persistence patterns and data storage strategy: relational, NoSQL, search, and in-memory solutions

Experience designing solutions that incorporate AI/ML capabilities, including model serving and LLM integration

Non-functional requirements: scalability, resilience, performance, observability, and security

Agile delivery environments; ability to operate across programme and sprint-level planning

DevOps and GitOps practices

Experience working with third-party vendors and system integrators

6+ years of experience in solution architecture or senior engineering leadership roles

Demonstrated experience producing Solution Architecture Documents and leading architecture governance processes

Solid background in at least two of: cloud-native platform architecture, data and AI platform design, API and integration architecture, or enterprise application architecture

Experience in the publishing, education, or research technology domain is advantageous but not required

Proven track record of delivering complex, cross-functional technology programmes
